Whole food deliciousness - Edit
A limited selection of vegan choices but what they have oozed deliciousness. No fake meats, just whole food freshness with great coffee!

Excellent Vegan Options - Edit
Castro’s is a cute little quick service place. You can order at the counter and sit indoors or outdoors. I ordered the vegan avocado toast and it was beautifully plated and tasted great! They also have vegan tamales but they ran out when I was there. I finished with an oat latte that was delicious. I would definitely recommend.

We had a great breakfast here: the prettiest avocado toast (delicious too!) and a tamale to wow you. Great vegan options! Super nice staff and fast service. Strong coffee- perfection.

Meh - Edit
I'm a local and really wanted to love this place. The tamale was mushy and somewhat flavorless. It came with odd pickled veggies. It was a small portion for $14. I won't be back. I'd prefer to give my business to other, better 100% plant-based restaurants.
Read morePros: It's central in Waikiki., It has several indoor and outdoor seating options., They offer a few vegan options.
Cons: It was expensive., The quality was mediocre. , They are only a few vegan options.

Creative vegan food but pricey and small portion - Edit
My mom and I (both vegans) came here with omni relatives (they eat here every Sunday after church). There are multiple vegan options, which we appreciated, but the place is a bit pricey and we'd rather support a fully vegan restaurant. If you need somewhere that is omni this is a good option, but as a pair of vegans my mom and I would not come here again by ourselves.
Read moreWe had the avocado toast, vegan poke bowl, and vegan tamal and they were all very delicious. Portions are a bit small, you will not fill up on one item if you are looking for a full meal.
Pros: Has at least 3 vegan options, Delicious, creative food full of flavor
Cons: Kind of pricey, Not 100% vegan

Vegans Go Here! - Edit
The food here is beautiful and amazing! I highly recommend this experience for vegans. They treat the vegan dishes just as beautifully and complex and interestingly as the other meat based Omni dishes. We tried the vegan tamal which was incredibly earthy and scrumptious, and the avocado toast board which was far more interesting than any other avocado toast I've ever had! They also gave us yummy sides of vegan breads, oat milk, black beans and marinated tofu. I truly wish I can give them five stars, but the app doesn't allow it for non fully vegan restaurants. However, it's a real compliment to say that their handful of vegan selections are probably superior than a lot of dishes at regular fully vegan restaurants. Service and atmosphere were also very very nice, a great sidewalk cafe experience all around!

Pleasant Surprise, Albeit Pricey - Edit
Husband (Omni) and I (strict vegan) were actually trying to get breakfast at the spot next to Castro's (Eggs n Things) but there was an hour and a half wait and only one veggie breakfast item on the menu for me. We decided to take a look at Castro's as it was a good level of busy. It WAS SO GOOD! I was not expecting any vegan options, but they had like 3 or 4 mains. I had the avocado toast and it was next level! Also got an iced mocha with oat milk and it was a very good mocha. My husband got the smoked salmon platter and it looked quite fancy and he said it was good. Only downside is they are quite pricey, but we needed to eat somewhere and decided why not as we were on our honeymoon. Cute little Cuban cafe though! They also had vegan tamales which I would like to try - maybe next visit!
