Ok to good?

The venue itself is why you go, especially the veranda with gorgeous views. The interior moves from modern to panelled room charm. Very friendly staff and good drink options.

There were two options. The lentil shepherds pie which is hearty and rich is the better choice. But, not really what you want in summer and belongs on a winter menu.

The Malaysian Vegetable Curry, disappointing. It’s nicely spiced but lacks any protein. Could easily have had chickpeas or tofu in and the short grain rice feels cheap.

It’s a shame as you can tell recon the other dishes they have the skill to do something better. I never understand why there isn’t a burger option? It’s always a good fall back.

Pros: Great location , More than one choice , Friendly

Cons: Poor execution

Lentil shepherd's pie

Vegan and veg options cooked by people who know what that they're doing with flavour and seasonings. Been a veggie for 40 years and have eaten a lot of poor meals in places that mainly serve meat eaters. The v options here while not extensive are good, definitely not an insipid afterthought. And it's a lovely venue, proper country hotel with a great garden with stunning views. Staff excellent. Our favourite local venue. #Veganuary
