Delicious Vegan Mexican Fare - Edit
We were in Bar Harbor for a week in June 2013 and we ate at Casa on Cottage twice--it was that good! The service was good and they were very friendly toward our son, who is four-and-a-half. Although they serve meat they do have quite a few vegan options, including Daiya vegan cheese. My husband had a vegan burrito with tofu the first time and the second time he got the quesadilla with Daiya and chickpeas. I got the vegan quesadilla with chickpeas, sweet potatoes, and Daiya both times. It was delicious. The tomato-based sauce on top was so good, as were the rice and refried beans. The chef/owner was very nice and came over to talk to use about how she was really making an effort to provide delicious vegan options. She was very interested in pleasing her customers who want to order veg/vegan food. The portions were very big and I always had leftovers, which made a great lunch the next day. We were impressed and will definitely go back next year!

Mexican with a twist - Edit
We used to go for years to the classic Cafe Bluefish in Bar Harbor, where a very skilled cook would always have a vegan dish for us. Now, this has closed and the cook and owner is now preparing Mexican food with a continental twist. You will find some nice vegan options, tempeh based enchilada for example.
