Good VLT

The VLT (with smokey tempeh) was so good. Perfect lunch!

Nice food courtist vibe with indoor fire pit

While their veg options are average, this place is a reprieve from the touristy establishments along the same blocks, where you might drop 2.5x for the same fare.

**eating here supports racism**

**Warning** Racism is being supported by you when you eat at this restaurant. My wife, my son and I were having a beautiful morning. Went to Carmel bakery and grabbed some food before my wife had to go to work. After walking her to work I decided to go to Carmel Belle. Worst mistake of my entire life.

What you’re going to read will sound like fiction, but as a busy computer programmer I can assure you I wouldn’t take valuable time concocting this event and sharing unless it was extraordinarily egregious.

My son and I walk in, find a booth in the back corner as it was the only available table. For those with children, you understand setting up a 1 year old, situating the stroller, making his food, and waiting for him to calm before you buy your food is a whole thing by yourself.

As I’m calming him so I can purchase a root beer and an oatmeal cookie, I start nibbling on the breakfast burrito I got from Carmel bakery and I notice someone hovering over me and my son. I look up and it was the owner angrily looking us and yelled “ I have a lot of customers you can’t sit here and eat that food!” I said “ok I was going to buy something, but I’ll buy it now” he looked incredulously at us angrily turned his back on us and walked away.

I said politely “ we’re customers too, i come here all the time and I was setting up…”
He cuts me off ( and now he has an audience of people surrounding us and sitting down staring at us) he said “ I don’t care I’ve never seen you her before….”

I repeat he said “ I’ve never see you here before” loudly so those watching could take in the unnecessary drama. What does that fact have to do with anything? And how does he know he’s never seen me before with as many people that visit this establishment?
I’m the only black person there and I’ve seen this “movie” before so as I stood in line I said “you know what just leave me alone, I’m buying something right now”

He speed walks over to my and my sons face about 10 inches away and angrily says “what did you just say to me?!” I said “ get away from me sir I’m trying to buy something and you you’re chasing me around the restaurant, leave me alone! “ everyone is now staring at me like I’m causing trouble, very embarrassing as my son watches and witnesses this type of behavior for the first time.

He then yells “ you know what!! I’m not serving you, you guys can leave! Go!” Now he’s grandstanding for the ever growing audience in order to embarrass us even more and save face.

Pretty basic.

Carmel’s vegan game is surprisingly not strong😒
Visiting from the Midwest and I guess I had higher expectations! Carmel Belle seemed to have the most vegan options around. I tried the Plant-based VLT (veggie tempeh bacon, arugula, avo and tomato on Pullman bread) - it was fresh and I liked the bread but the sandwich didn’t have much flavor. I also tried the vegan peanut butter Revival ice cream from the cooler, it was alright but not amazing. I did not see any other vegan dessert on offer.

I came hungry, and I left not hungry — that’s about the best I can say about this place! 😕🤷🏻‍♀️

Good, decent meal

They didn’t have many vegan options but we did have the tofu scramble (in a burrito), the vlt and the pb&j, as well as a smoothie. Everything was pretty basic but still tasted good. Would have loved more options but overall, what we ate was good!

Great little spot!

Very cute spot. Juice bar has plant based protein powder. A few vegan entrees on the menu including TLT (tempeh lettuce and tomato) sandwich. Lots of cute boutique shopping in the area.

Good VLT

Nice place to stop for some juice and the VLT is great. Not loads of vegan options but it was a scrummy none the less 😊

Decent breakfast burrito

I tried this place for breakfast. They had a few vegan options- the ubiquitous avocado toast, of course, but also a tofu scramble and breakfast burrito (although the latter is really just the tofu scramble in a tortilla). I went with the burrito, which was decent if not amazing. I would propose adding beans, at a minimum, to spice it up. The coffee was great.

Good Food

I got the VLT (veggie bacon, lettuce, tomato). Good stuff. Other vegan options as well. Plus, killer Hard Kombucha.

Pros: Several vegan options , Good food

Cons: Slightly expensive

Breakfast Burrito

Ask for vegan breakfast burrito and add tofu scramble.. tasty and great option for breakfast.
There are some more vegan options that also sounds great.. (belle bowl, vegan BLT, etc)

Good vegan brunch options

There's a few vegan options and also vegan cake! Tofu scramble was nice. I found the chai latte a little heavy on the cloves but overall a nice brunch!

Great Menu

This place is under new management, and they have added lots of gluten free and plant-based options. The tofu scramble was great, and the VLT looked delicious, they offer a vegan mayo as well.

Pros: Great vegan breakfast options, Friendly &knowledgable staff

Adequate, but not stellar

I went here two days in a row. The space is lovely, but I was a bit disappointed with the oatmeal - specifically the cinnamon apples, which were simply thinly sliced apples with a generous amount of sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top... Not a marinated or baked apple (I should have asked, so I take some of the blame). The house made almond milk was also fairly watery, which was disappointing. The avocado toast was quite tasty, if quite small. Not a terrible option, and you may have better luck than I did.

Great Breakfast Options

My husband and I had a wonderful breakfast at Belle yesterday morning. Fresh fruit, juices, steel-cut oatmeal all were delicious. Definitely worth the trip!
