Good, could be better

Enjoy eating here. Love that they have a dedicated vegetarian section on the menu. The cactus burrito is 100% vegan however i asked for the guacamole removed & sliced avocado added and extra lettuce. See amount of lettuce (extra $1.75) and 3 slices of avocado (extra $2.75). So each slice of avocado almost $1 per slice! ($20 avocado) I don’t think that is right, especially when you don’t want the guacamole. Waiter removed the charge. (TY) other than that highly recommend.

Pros: A few vegan options

Cons: Charge alot for extra lettuce, don’t get much

Great chips and salsa, ok vegan options, probably the best choice around

This place was bustling on a hot Friday at 4:30! Cute decor, and the staff was kind and friendly. I appreciated the separate vegetarian section on the menu, though there was no vegan cheese/sour cream or vegan proteins (tofu, seitan, etc). Our server seemed to understand that we wanted everything made vegan, i.e. without dairy. However my daughter's burrito arrived with cheese, though they whisked it away and quickly replaced it. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas which consisted of some deliciously sauteed vegetables (needed salt, but improved by their fantastic salsa), some tortillas, a bowl of black beans, and a very small mound of iceberg lettuce with one slice of avocado. It was pretty good, but kind of meh. We also ordered the vegetarian burrito which was served doused in a delicious salsa, this was definitely the best thing we ordered. Overall we were happy and I would stop by here again when we are passing through next time.

Pros: fantastic chips and salsa, friendly responsive staff

Cons: small vegan selection, a bit too busy

Best Mexican food around!

As of April 30th, 2021, Carlos Restaurante in Winston, Oregon is stepping up to serve our community in the best ways possible to create a safe, healthy, and fun environment in the midst of mandates, masks, social distancing, etc. Carlos is one of my most favorite restaurants. Not only do they have nutritious and flavorful vegan and vegetarian Mexican dishes for dine-in or take-out, but everything is fresh and made with care. They are also a Blue Zones Project Certified Restaurant. Blue Zones Project® is a community-wide well-being initiative that makes healthy choices easier in all the places we live, work, and play. Not only a local favorite, but travelers stop on their way through, because they know they can always get a good meal here, and the service is great! I know you will love them as I do!!

Delicious Mexican food

The food here is delicious! We came in the late afternoon and received our food promptly. The menu says that items in the vegetarian section may take longer to cook but it took no time at all. The zucchini burrito was delicious, smothered in a delicious verde sauce with fresh avocado on top. The vegetables inside were well seasoned. Fair price as well, $20 for me and a friend.

During Covid, all servers and waitstaff are wearing masks. The restaurant is incredibly clean, restrooms too. Parties are seated away from eachother. 👍🏻

A spicy treat without the meat

Despite the fact that they are primarily a conventional restaurant, their veg menu is not lacking at all. I dream of their Mole Enchiladas and have fallen in love with their Burrito de Nopales. Ask for the green salsa if you need to kick it up a notch, this place is always worth the drive.
