Chocolate enthusiasts must try!

We did the cacao tour here where you get to walk around the farm where they grow the cacao beans and experience the process from fruit to bean to chocolate bar. We got to taste every stage of the cacao and at the end you can try around 10ish different flavours of chocolate bars (vegan) which they also sell in the cafe. They also made a cacao drink for us to try. FYI it's not like typical sugary chocolate bars, it reminded us of a wine tasting - rich, complex flavours with variations based on the cacao beans and how they're grown. A must for those who love dark chocolate.

Veeeery good coffeee 🤤

The coffee is amazing and they have vegan options for food both sweet and savory, though the vegan pancakes and the banana muffins taste almost the same but still very very good 🙏☺️

Tasty Breakfast & Choc Tour Option

This place had items marked on menu that were vegan! The pancakes were delicious! Also, they have an option to take a cacoa tour to view how chocolate is made! Two times per day and no reservation required! Check out their website for more details! #Veganuary

Love that place!

The place is so beautiful and just perfect if you wanna chill. I had the vegan chocolate & banana muffin with almond latte and that was to die for! Highly recommend.

Mostly coffee and chocolate

Go here for the coffee and chocolate, not the food. They s will prepare drinks with coconut milk on request. If you’re visiting Costa Rica, you really must try local chocolate while you are there, and this is the place to get it. Also, if you’re looking to relax near the beach but out of the sun, this is the place for you.

Five Stars!!!

Seriously the coolest and most interesting cocoa tour! Worth they money! They guide Daniel was so genuine and informative adout the indigenous cocoa growing, harvesting, and production. You can only get this cocoa in Costa Rica they do not export. We saw many wild sloths, red frogs, and toucans on the walk up to their plantation. Tried delish chocolate from the pure fruit pulp to the finished product. Only two finished bars have milk. The coffee drinks are delish and they also have vegan muffins and other food. This is the best way to truly support local!

Pros: Amazing cocoa, Vegan options, Supporting a sustainable and Indigenous tradition

Cons: No cons, do it.

A social hub with a few options.

Caribeans is one of the many social hubs of Puerto Viejo. It kind of has a co-working space feel to it. If you like chocolate and sweets, give it a try. It has a few vegan/vegetarian menu items as well.

great chocolate and excellent coffee

Caribeans has worked hard to perfect its coffee roasting and chocolate production: the results are great! Delicious coffee and chocolate served in a comfortable, friendly environment by local staff, with a good selection of locally produced products and crafts, from traditional coffee stands to crystallized ginger to organic coconut oil to noni juice! Healthy vegetarian options on the menu and wonderful farm made ice cream make stopping at Caribeans a must on any trip to town.

Pros: delicious food, internet by donation, relaxing atmosphere
