Beautiful spot + a beautiful vegan menu provided! - Edit
Canoe house sits on a beautiful beachfront location with excellent service. We were asked at the reception desk if anyone had a food preference or allergies and 2 of us are 100% plant-based. We were immediately provided our own vegan menu upon being seated. The selection was wide ranging and beautiful.
Read moreAll 4 of us (vegan & non-vegan) enjoyed their 100% plant based appetizers of grilled chilies, edamame, and corn ribs.
Main entrée: I devoured the Tofu/mushroom pot & my son had the hearts of palm pasta. Both were full of delicious flavors unique to Hawaii and presented beautifully! Our server doubled a panna cotta dessert for my son and I using a coconut cream that was delicate and ended our meal perfectly with a coffee martini; also 100% plant-based.
The 2 meat eaters loved their dinner of mahi mahi, pulled bread and garlic fried rice.
This was a very special dining experience my mom, sister, son and I fully enjoyed while celebrating my sister’s birthday. They even brought her a special dessert on top of the chocolate flourless cake she & my mom ordered.
The sunset, service and experience was outstanding!
You won’t be disappointed!

Wonderful fine dining with vegan menu, food and setting - Edit
Inside the Moana Lani resort and with outdoor beachside seating with glorious ocean views and sunset, this is the only truly romantic and vaguely classy restaurant I know of on the big island that caters for vegans, perfect for a birthday or special occasion. Outstanding flavors, especially in the chef’s amazing amazing sauces. Likely Japanese inspired menu (not sushi).
Read morePros: Full vegan menu. Unmatched in its class if you me, Caters for allergies and restrictions., Wonderful service. Wow! The sauces!
Cons: Yes, it’s expensive, but well worth it., You’ll need a reservation., When the evening ends, you have to go home!

Fine dining with a view! - Edit
Reservations needed. Ask for the vegan menu! I enjoyed everything I’ve tried, but hands down the corn ribs are the BEST! This restaurant is at the Mauna Lani, outside with an ocean view. If possible get a reservation just before sunset.

Cons: Pricy, but worth it!, Reservations needed

Best Dining Experience on the Island - Edit
There is so much to say about this place:
Read more-Outstanding service
-Outdoor seating with stunning views of the ocean and Kohala Mountains
-Separate vegan menu with 12 options(!)
-Reasonably priced considering the value (for 2 people, our total food bill was less than $120, not including tax, gratuity, and alcohol)
Although it's not the best vegan fine dining experience I've ever had, it's certainly the best on Big Island.
Reservations required unless it’s peak visitor season, in which case tables are held for hotel guests.
Pros: Great value, Excellent service, Fantastic Views
