Very tasty vegan food

Very tasty vegan food. We had a Beetroot starter, croquettes and a vegan cheesecake that tasted like heaven. So nice that here in Kiruna the vegan food was that good.

Pros: Elegant ambiente, Tasty food, Friendly waiter

Nice, but unbalanced

I stayed at the hotel so I had a chance to see how the food here was over several meals.

Breakfast: Several strong options including a huge variety of vegan yogurts, vegan ham and cheese, overnight oats, fruit, and salad. I enjoyed the yogurt especially, and wish they carried Oddly Good brand in my country!

Lunch: there is one Omni and one veggie meal for lunch that change daily. The only day I was around for lunch the veggie option wasn’t vegan. They offered to ask the kitchen what could be made for me but I wasn’t really hungry anyway so I just kept my friend company while he ate.

Dinner: The dinner options are the same for vegans every night. When I was there it was a very good beet appetizer, a dinner of falafel-adjacent croquettes with veggies and potato mash that was good but WAY too oily, and a vegan cashew cheesecake. I tried the cake on a different night and the crust was awesome but the cake itself was a bit bland.

Overall it’s pretty good for vegans and with the trip one night for dinner if you’re not staying there. I wouldn’t gamble on lunch if you aren’t staying at the hotel. The hotel is nice in and of itself so it’s a nice choice if you’re in Kiruna, though the Best Western (15 min walk) has more veggie options because they have two restaurants attached.

Just OK.

They have one vegan option for lunch and one for dinner and they are the same everyday. The vegan section for breakfast is sparse and the rest of the buffet the same as in every hotel restaurant except no baked beans so one fewer option. The chia seed pudding in the morning was reportedly vegan and quite good. The lunch and dinner appetizers are not vegan and the waitstaff seem confused about what vegan means. It was disappointing. The Arctic Thai place 1km away was not fancy but was good and had many more vegan options - we ate there three times during our 2 days in Kiruna.

Pros: The chickpea stew at dinner was excellent.

Cons: not enough vegan options for a fancy hotel, expensive

Delicious vegan options

Stayed at the hotel. Had dinner here and breakfast. This place exceeded my expectations in taste and composition. However, by the end of my first dinner was unsure they understood "vegan." I specified please make it vegan, and the first course they explained all elements and it was vegan. Main course sounded vegan, but later on I started thinking it may have had non-vegan yogurt, because I asked for a vegan dessert and they brought "milk chocolate" and "sour cream" sorbet which made me confused. There was one sorbet which was certainly vegan and it was good (raspberry). I recommend this place, but come prepared to double check.

I updated my review after having breakfast the next day. The breakfast buffet had vegan yogurt parfait, vegan yogurt, vegan milk, vegan seed bread and vegan butter-- a nice spread!

Pros: Creative flavors, Creative textures, Creative presentation

Cons: Became confused if it was 100% vegan, I wish they had more options

Great place for special occasions

The lunch was good value, big plates of well-made food served at the table. Really good bread on the side and coffee included.
For dinner I had a delicious soup, followed by jackfruit chili. It was quite spicy but slightly lacking in umami or fat, I thought. A bit overpriced.
As I stayed at the hotel, I also had breakfast there. Not so impressive to be honest, no vegan cheese, peanut butter, baked beans or mushrooms which you get at many Swedish hotels.

A little bit of double checking is advised if more than one waiter serves your table.
On average, I rate Ripan a solid 4.
I hope more vegans visit and inspire them to become even better!

Pros: Staff was friendly and professional., Great environment and ambience. , Good wine list.
