Fresh, delicious, nourishing home cooked meal - Edit
📍Cai's Dim Sum Catering & CX Silver Studio in Brattleboro, VT USA
Read moreWhat a true gem for a fresh, nourishing, home cooked vegan meal! Cai's Dim Sum is typically ordered takeout or does catering. With advanced notice, they were willing to accomodate us to dine in. Thank you so much!!
Surrounded by beautiful artwork from Chef Cai and artist, we ate:
- Fresh Spring Rolls: So so fresh and packed with veggies with a homemade sauce that is so fresh, sweet, tangy and bright! The best fresh spring rolls I have had in a long time. GF as well!
- Tofu Kale Dumplings: So unique and delicious! Hint of sweetness from maple syrup and nuttiness from flax, these were a hit. A must have!
- Mushroom Dumplings: Cai's is pretty gluten free friendly with many options. This dumpling being one of them! Filling is absolutely delicious with the flavor of mushroom shining through. Adam described the wrapper to be more like a cornish pasty and could't agree more! Overall delicious, unique!
- Tofu Kale Bun: I absolutely love steamed buns, plan or with fillings. This bun was packed with delicious filling, similar to the dumplings. Really nice ratio of bun to filling!
Red Bean Bun: We ordered too much, ate this for breakfast. I love red beans. Made a nice breakfast with sweet and savoriness of the filling.
- Sichuan Style Noodles: With wheat noodles snd medium spiciness. You could also order with rice noodles, no spice or extra spicy. So so delicious! Sesame noodles coated perfectly, topped with fresh veggies, dried cranberries, and asian pear. A must have!
Ginger Tofu: Since we shared everything, we ordered this entree with extra tofu. Jasmine rice was cooked to perfection, topped with fresh and perfectly cooked cabbage, bok choy, asparagus. The tofu was so soft, creamy, and flavorful with the ginger. I love that the tofu was not deep fried. So healthy and nutritious!
There is also a vegan scallion pancake on the menu. And can aldo be made gluten free.
My husband rode his bike 70 miles from home and my pup and I drove by car and ran and hiked our way to the area. This was EXACTLY everything we wanted and needed and more!

I order from here all the time. It’s such delicious, light, fresh comfort food. I always get a spring roll, kale/tofu dumplings, and the box abundance! Such friendly owners too.

Not good - Edit
We are so excited to try dim sum with so many vegan and gluten-free options. But what a disappointment. The scallion pancakes were burnt outside and undercooked inside. And they didn't pack us any dipping sauces mentioned on the menu for the pancakes and dumplings so we couldn't even mask the taste. The vegan entrees were extremely oily. The staff s

Great! - Edit
What a great place! 5 stars if possible. This is probably one of the top vegan spots in southern Vermont.
Read moreAlmost everything can be veganized, and the dumplings and buns are really good! My biggest recommendation would be the sweet bean bun and the Bowl Abundance, because it comes with dumplings or a scallion pancake on the side, and is deeeelicious! It has this great sauce that lends a ton of flavor without adding a high volume of sauce. Great balance! So tasty.
Scallion pancake is GF!
Adam and his wife run it. Adam has a great grasp of what is vegan and GF, and makes recommendations based on your specific needs. I came in January 2021 and Adam came to my car window to take my order. I guess most people order online or by phone, and then they just drive there to pick it up. Even though I placed my order when I got there, it was only a couple minutes to wait! I'll definitely be back!
