A few vegan & can be made vegan options

Oct 2024

The cafe is light, bright and airy, with indoor and outdoor seating. We called in primarily for a coffee and then noticed the vegan options on the menu so ordered some food.

I had the Moroccan Cauliflower Bites which comes with access to the self serve salad bar. The salad bar had 6 salads to choose from with clearly labelled allergens & dairy ingredients. As the coleslaw contained dairy the chef had already put a portion of vegan coleslaw on my plate alongside the cauliflower bites, mango salsa and some hummus (again another swap to accommodate my diet.) Of the salad options 5 were vegan.

My friend ordered the cheese & red onion toastie, which can be made vegan by swapping the cheese from dairy to plant based. It came with a side salad, vegan coleslaw & crisps. Both lunches were good, although the vegan cheese used in the toastie wasn't the best.

Prices were reasonable and there was one vegan dessert available from the extensive cakes on offer.

All in all, we would definitely call in again to eat here. The staff were friendly & the option to veganise some of the dishes means there is a choice for vegan.

Called into today just for a cuppa. They had vegan flapjack and also a chocolate & orange tart available so I chose the tart to have with my cuppa. It was delicious and I can highly recommend it.

Called in today and noticed that the salad bar had gone. 3 vegan cakes on offer flapjack, blackcurrant crumble & a lemon tart.

Art Gallery + Museum Cafe, Basic Vegan Options.

Caffi Bach y Bocs is a cafe based in Oriel Môn situated alongside an interesting art gallery and wonderful museum. I was visiting to view a new exhibition, but after finding out the cafe has changed hands and now has vegan options, I decided to try it out.

Caffi Bach Y Bocs serves breakfast 10am-11.30am and lunch 12pm-2pm. They are open until 4pm for drinks and cakes. I visited the cafe early, as it can get very busy very quickly, so I had to order from the breakfast menu. The options on the lunch menu were far more varied, but I enjoyed my breakfast nonetheless. The vegan breakfast menu items were the following:
- Avo on Sourdough
- Beans on Toast
- Toast with Butter, Jam, or Marmalade

The lunch vegan options consisted of:
- Jacket Potato with Vegetable Chilli or Beans and Vegan Cheese
- Sandwich, Toastie, or Baguette with either Vegan Cheese and Red Onion or Onion Bhaji, Chilli Jam and Salsa
- Cauliflower Bites with Chips or Salad
- Vegetable Chilli and Chips

There were also three vegan bakes available among their large bakes selection. I had an Oat Flat White, Avo on Sourdough, and Chocolate Caramel Tart. The food won't blow you away, but it was pleasant and satisfying. Moreover, it's really great to know that vegans wanting to immerse themselves in local history and culture can do so in the knowledge that there are dining options for them at the premises!

Pros: Labelled Vegan Options, Plant Milks, Welsh Language Service Available, Vegan Breakfast and Lunch Options

Cons: Limited Sweet Options
