Responsibly Sourced Coffee; Not Enough Vegan Savoury Options. - Edit
Caffeina Coffi is a contemporary speciality coffee shop based on Prestatyn High Street. The coffee shop has an airy and modern feel, and sourcing eco-friendly and ethically produced products is evidently part of Caffeina’s mission statement.
Read moreThere are three menus available to peruse: the food menu, the smoothies & bowls menu, and the drinks menu. A significant portion of the smoothies & bowls menu is vegan, and the vegan options are clearly labelled (excluding the toppings). Some of the vegan options on this menu during my visit included the Pitaya Sunset, Glow Baby, and Island Detox smoothies, as well as the Island or Malibu Acai Bowls. The food menu was divided into Sourdough and Bagel sections, and the only vegan options across the entire menu were Sourdough or Fruit Toast with a spread or Avocado Toast. There were a few sweet baked treats available at the counter, but they were unlabelled. However, I recognised a Cinnamon Classic bun in the display, which is a well-stocked vegan pastry among coffee shops. I can see from previous reviews and social media posts that Caffeina Coffi has stocked other vegan sweet treats in the past. The drinks menu consisted of coffees, loose-leaf teas, and matcha. The plant milks on offer were oat, coconut, almond, and soy, but they came at an extra charge of 50p.
I had an Iced Flat White with Oat Milk and a 12oz Acai Island Bowl with Dark Chocolate Chips as an extra topping. The iced coffee hit the spot, and the acai bowl was super tasty and refreshing, as well as being visually appealing. I support the ‘think global, act local’ ethos of this small business, and their website is full of information on the sourcing decisions the owner has undertaken. However, as a vegan, it is frustrating to see a coffee house that supports the exploitation and slaughter of animals by serving animal products refer to themselves as ‘guilt-free’. Additionally, I can think of no better way for Caffeina to meet its environmental objectives than by reducing or even eliminating animal products from its menus, as studies consistently show that vegan diets are more sustainable than meat-based diets. Despite all this, Caffeina Coffi is more conscious of environmental/ethical issues through their practices than most businesses, and I do recommend this coffee shop for vegans, mainly as a place to enjoy a well-made beverage.
Pros: Loved the Acai Bowl, Traceable Supply Chain, Uses 100% Renewable Electricity, All Packaging is Compostable
Cons: Limited Savoury Vegan Options, Plant Milks Cost Extra, Throwaway Cups & Bowls, Bakes Display Not Labelled

Lovely small business - Edit
Me and my boyfriend come here fairly regularly. It’s a lovely coffee shop with a good enough selection of vegan options and, sometimes, vegan pastries (these rotate so they’re not always available). The interior is very nice and modern and the prices are reasonable
