The service here stood out to me! They really understand what vegan is and they will make any modifications on the menu to veganize the item if not vegan! I had vegan gyros, and they replaced the yogurt for vegan mayo. Also the traditional spinach pie was amazing! Really recommend!!!!!!

We had spent a few days enjoying beautiful Greek salads and various bean based dishes. But wandering past Cafe12 we noticed they did gyros with beyond meat (our favourite!). So we ditched location and sat down and the food was AMAZING! The hummus, the green bread or pie or whatever it was, the Gyros. If you are vegan / vegetarian and in Agios Nikoloas this is the place. Fab to see several vegan options on the menu. Owner very knowledgeable and pointed out proactively the mistake on the menu labelling the vegetarian gyro as vegan. Cretan pie was delicious as was the burger.

We loved the vegan options at Cafe 12. It's a beautiful restaurant on the lake and has clearly marked vegan items on their menu - including Beyond Burgers, vegan pizza, stuffed vegetables and more! They also have vegan sorbet and the service is friendly! Highly recommend.

Ignore latest review saying no vegan options. We had a vegan beyond meat pizza and lots of other things. Staff were very helpful, explained everything we could have, and when it came it was delicious. They also brought out hummous which wasn’t on the menu.

Almost none of the vegan dishes available in 2026! - Edit
We went to Cafe12 in hopes of getting a club sandwich. Unfortunately they don’t offer most of their former vegan dishes anymore.
Read moreThere was a vegan burger as well as a „pizza“ (it was dough topped with slices of cheese and a beyond meat patty cut into chunks), as well as about three starters.
The vegan pie and the „pizza“ were okay as well as the service. We don’t recommend to go there.

Great vegan choices right by the lake - Edit
This is a very nice spot and I’ve been coming back here for years. Of course you can have some Greek starters here but the great thing is their real vegan options like a very tasty vegan burger with beyond meat patty and vegan mayonnaise for the fries. They also offer a vegan pizza with minced vegan meat and vegan pizza cheese among other good options.

There are a few options for vegan main dishes such as a burger and pizza but we prefered some typical Greek food so we ordered all the vegan starters on the menu to share: stuffed vine leaves, fava bean mash, olives, spinach pie and pita bread. Vegan options are clearly indicated on the menu. Everything was so well prepared and flavorfull and enough food for 2! The owner was very friendly and told us about the history of the dishes, which was so nice and interesting! The atmosphere was really nice, next to a beautiful lake.

We just stopped for a quick stop during a bus trip. Really lovely restaurant with a nice view. The waiter was really attentive and friendly and the coffee was delicious. Lovely setting by the late.

This is the first place locally that I’ve found to have a vegan menu which is great. I had the pesto pasta and a side of French fries. Huge portions and good service and a lovely location on the lake. The food was nice but nothing to write home about so not sure we’ll return to try the rest of the menu.
