All about the sauce

It's quick, delicious, and flexible with vegans. Yumm sauce is vegan garlic heaven if you don't mind the oil. You can sub sour cream and cheese for extra avo or red cabbage and carrots for some more color. Easy to mod and add whatever your heart desires and employees are very knowledgable in vegan ways.

Pros: Filling for decent price, Quick, Can be healthy and flavorful

Manipulation is key

As of now, this restaurant is solely for takeout. The menus offers a great selection of items that can easily be made vegan; from bowls, burritos, to salads. Pro tip: Make sure you tell the cashier to make any dish vegan and you’ll get extra avocado with no extra charge.

Pros: Variety of dishes, Many substitutes

Cons: Lackadaisical flavor

Good variety

I didn’t have high hopes, but the tofu and tempeh make a variety of menu items Vegan friendly. Not bad for fast food!

Consistently good

I frequently pick up lunch to-go from the Cafe Yumm by the river, but have also eaten at their other locations throughout Oregon. I enjoy their slightly tangy, nutritional yeast based Yumm sauce quite a bit and will sometimes pickup a jar of it. Most of their menu can be made vegan (vegan sub avocado). I’ve tried their non-bowl/wrap options (eg bento box) but found them lacking vs their solid standard options.

Pros: Clear menu, Easy to make anything vegan, Fast and healthy to-go option

Cons: Not a ton of variety

Cafe YUCK - CHICKEN in our vegan order

After seeing this place had several vegan options and was in a convenient location, my husband and I wanted to try it during a weekend in Bend.

When we arrived at 8pm, we looked at the menu for several minutes preparing to place an order, when another customer told us they were closed - the staff didn't even bother to let us know. The hours on their website said open until 9.

We tried again another day and placed a to go order, specifying everything needed to be vegan. My husband ordered a tofu wrap, and later discovered it contained a bunch of chicken in addition to the tofu which was really upsetting, and the meal had to go to waste. My teriyaki tempeh bento was not very tasty.

Its not ok for a restaurant to advertise as being vegan or vegetarian friendly, when they are not.

Pros: none

Cons: vegan order contained meat

Vegans Saving Grace

Completely surprised by the lack of vegan options in Bend. Although it is not described as vegan friendly, seems to be the only spot in the whole area with a good amount of vegan options available; unlike other who have 2 or 3 small options to offer. Great food, great service, good value.

Pros: lots of options, good value, friendly staff

Cons: not open late
