amazing vegan bowls and atmosphere - Edit

We went for lunch and really enjoyed both the food and the environment! For 32 BOBs we had their lunch combo. It was a delicious self service (you can take as much as you want) soup with homemade bread, two types of hummus and roasted soybeans. You can choose any of their bowls - I had one with rice noodles and seitan and my partner had the Inca bowl. Both were super yummy and artfully presented. There was also self service lemonade included. Staff were incredibly friendly and the restaurant is clean and chilled. We will definitely return for more food and to relax with a pukka tea and vegan dessert!

Tasty food but tiny portions - Edit

This place was a little hard to find and by the time I did I was starving. I ordered a Mexican veggie bowl, which was really tasty but the portion was shockingly small, and for the price it was even worse, knowing that there are veg restaurants in La Paz where for the same amount of $$ or less I could get waaaay more food. I left the restaurant feeling dissatisfied and still hungry

Pros: Tasty food , Cute decor , English speaking staff

Cons: Expensive , Small portions , Hard to find

DREAMY food - Edit

I absolutely love this place. It's all vegan! The dishes are incredibly tasteful and beautifully presented. There are some tables on a balcony. I've visited a few times and had a dreamy pad thai made from carrots, a perfectly crunchy quinoa burger and a bowl with guacamole, brown rice, beans in sauce and nachos. Oh, and really good coffee and coca latte. The deserts look beautiful, haven't tried them but warm brownie with vegan ice cream and such. Lovely owner and personnel.

Pros: Amazingly tasty food that's beautifully presented, Lovely space in the center of town, Lovely owner and personnel

Cons: Can be hard to find as you will need to walk throu

Awesome - Edit

This place is really awesome. It is hard to choose what you wanna eat because you wanna eat everything. It looks great, portions are fine and it tastes amazing. They have a nice terrace outside so you can enjoy sunshine while waiting for your food (especially if you are here in winter, it's nice to warm up). Service is also great, English speaking. Totally recommend it!!!

a must go to - Edit

Amazing food and wifi.
Bolivia seem to have small sized portions no matter what but you can move past this with the yummy taste. The hot choc is a must and the chickpea dish. I didn't try the Buddha bowls as they looked small but thy looked amazing.
Pricey for Bolivia but great to go and support a growing Bolivian vegan community

Pros: amazing taste and great hot chocolate to have as a

Cons: little portions, some of the menu items didn't

'Eat as much as you want'... of however little is left - Edit

This café is strictly aimed at foreigners. All of the menu options and other text is in English. The first time I went there I ordered in Spanish, which given all of the English in the place was clearly my conscious choice. The waitress readily understood but replied in English, which upset me because although my Spanish is good I am a very unconfident speaker and it's often hard for me to get the words out. If the customer uses the national language, it's really not reasonable of the other person to change to another. (However, this is a fairly minor point and I'm not much penalizing the place for it.) On both my visits I had the soup of the day, bread and houmous for 28 bolivianos, of which you are supposed to be able to have as much as you want. The first time, I had three bowls of soup, which was nice, but the bread and especially houmous was scarce. Bear in mind that you can get a four-course menu del día even in a vegan restaurant in Bolivia for 20 bolivianos, so it is not being greedy to expect the offer to be fulfilled, at least within reason. However, the second time (today) was much, much worse. The waitress didn't provide any bowls or plates for about half an hour after I requested it, and the bread and houmous was again scarce much of the time. However, the big issue was that there was only enough soup left for me to scrape about a spoonful out with the ladle. After eating that and some bread and houmous (and having seen that the waitress had removed the lid and ladle and thus knew that the soup had run out), I waited patiently for at least another half hour for a new batch of soup to come out. When the waitress tried to take my bowl away and took the bread and houmous away without asking if I'd finished, I became a bit suspicious. Then another customer came in and ordered the soup, only to be told that it was finished. This was in the early to mid-afternoon so it was not like they were just about to close. I can't understand why the waitress had let me order when there was basically nothing left. (No one else was having it at the same time: I had 'all' the soup that was remaining when I arrived.) It's really unfair to pay really quite a lot for so little. I think the café sees all foreigners as cash cows for whom the prices are nothing, but I am on a tight budget and this is the only food I will eat today except for the basic (very basic as a vegan) hostel breakfast. I feel extremely cheated and disappointed.

awesome place in La Paz - Edit

Really nice small place, soup of the day with bread and hummus only 28bs and you can eat as much as you want! Sandwich with different toppings to choose (quite small), homemade ice cream.
I had a banana smoothie bowl which is quite big with granola, coconut and strawberries in top. It was ice cold but still tasty.
They have a few things to sell like nuts, coca and chocolate.
I can really recommend this place.

Pros: outdoor seating , toilet, quite backyard

Cons: not too easy to find

Very nice coffee shop - Edit

I only went once to Cafe Vida as I was only passing through La Paz, but it was an amazing experience. I liked the way the coffee shop is designed. It is influenced by various European coffee shops. Places like that are hard to find in South America. The owner is really nice. We had some great conversations together. Cafe Vida has lots of vegan options, which made it hard for me to decide what to eat :) The food itself and the coffee were both delicious. So all in all I can only recommend this place.

Pros: Delicious food, Excellent customer service, Very nice and relaxed atmosphere

Cons: /

super pretty space and even prettier food! - Edit

Just stopped by yesterday to grab some desserts - the staff was just finishing up making the cakes, which looked amazing, but I took some energy nut balls to go and they were delicious. (both were peanut and Brazil nut blends, one with cacao and one with coconut, 7 bolivianos each or $1). The prices seemed a little more expensive than standard in Bolivia but the food was seriously beautiful. The space is open, with wifi, and is located in one of those gorgeous old homes in downtown La Paz with central courtyards. Will definitely go back!

Update: Two weeks later, stopped by for an early dinner with my family. What amazing food! We ordered three different warm meals (chickpea stew, arepas/corn tortilla with guacamole and quinoa 'meat', and a green minipizza) and a sandwich, plus drinks and desert. All of it was so delicious - and ultimately we paid about the price one pays at a nice restaurant in La Paz for five people, about 230 bs ($35 as of July 2016). Kid-friendly space too, which was so appreciated as my kids were happy and jumping around at times.

My only wish is that the menu were written in Spanish as well, so that locals who stumbled upon it would feel just as welcome. Will definitely go back again and again - what a treat to have this place in La Paz! We are extremely lucky. Changed my review to 5 stars. ;)

Amazing - Edit

After what seems like forever without a decent vegan cafe I was so happy to find this place thanks to happy cow. I had to go twice, haha. The soup of the day with bread and hummus was delicious, also tried the vegan mini pizza, the chick pea stew, the green smoothie and a chai spice smoothie. Yum yum yum, off back tomorrow and I can't wait.

Pros: Good choice, some of the smoothies have honey but

Cons: No cons

Great vegan food - Edit

I was so happy that we found this place! The food was delicious and healthy. And the drinks were awesome too. I went twice, but would have gone there more if I had the time. Would have loved to taste more! And as a bonus the place looked nice and fresh , and the staff was friendly.
