Unexpected delight - Edit

I am glad to hear that they are going to renovate - I went in and actually was thinking of leaving...but my stomach was growling. I bought 4 of the beef tacos to go. When I got into my vehicle I thought I would bite into one to hold me over until got home. Well needless to say by the time I got home I had bitten into the last bite of the last taco. They were wonderful!

Pros: very tasty, nice staff

Cons: atmosphere is lacking, hole in the wall

Quick and Casual - Edit

We tried three tacos.

Carne Asada: faux thin beef with lettuce and mild green salsa
BBQ: saucy artichoke hearts sit in as "pulled pork". Amazing!!
Potato: has a kick. Mexican flavor tators.

BBQ was my fave!

Grand chicken burrito: beans and veggies and beyond meat chicken. It was good.

Quesadilla was my second fave! Daisy cheese and beans and veggies. Grilled and yummy.

Cupcakes were moist and just the right size.

Everything was $5 or less, making trying multiple things within your reach. Friendly employee, and most of the taco fillings are pre made fresh that day, so it makes wait time super short.

Pros: Quick, Affordable, 100% vegan

Cons: atmosphere

friendly folks, great food - Edit

I was passing through Richmond and needed some dinner (happycow to the rescue!) and I'm so glad I picked Cafe Verde. It was relatively easy to find from the highway. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I ordered mushroom tacos and then couldn't pass up the cupcakes. Both were fantastic!
The place seemed a little plain, could use a little more detail on the menu, more seating, and I agree with previous commenters that they need some extras like guacamole. But overall it is a great spot and I hope they succeed!

Pros: very friendly staff, quick but tasty food, amazing cupcakes

Cons: needs more detail on menu, no guacamole

Delicious tacos and cupcakes - Edit

As an out of towner, Cafe Verde was a great find. Excellent quality at reasonable prices.

I had three different kinds of tacos (they are soft tortillas): mushroom, BBQ, and "carnitas". All were served with lettuce. Would be nice to add other toppings, like tomatoes, onions, and guacamole. Still, very tasty.

The cupcakes were probably the best tasting ever. Moist and sweet. the three I tried were strawberry-lemon, chocolate-orange, and maple. I could easily have inhaled 6 of them.

The staff was very friendly and knowelgeable. They answered my several questions about what the taco fillings were made from: soy, jackfruit, etc.

I think the decor and seating are adequate, but can be made more inviting.

Cafe Verde is a great place for great food!

Pros: Excellent food, Reasoable prices, Friendly and knowledgeable service

Cons: No table seating, only bar stools

Yum! - Edit

Fast, cheap and delicious! Ed Edge has come out with another brilliant idea: a storefront where you can buy his amazing cupcakes after you feast on soft tacos and po boys. For a takeout joint this place is very inviting and homey with artists work hanging on the walls, bright neon walls and a counter and bar stools ringing the room. Vegans have to be in the know here - the menu looks like a meat menu reading Beef, Fish, BBQ, Oyster, Potato, Mushroom and Carnitas - but it is all in fact vegan. The fish taco is amazing and the jackfruit BBQ is great too! My only qualm is no sides of guacamole - bring on the avocado Ed!

Do not leave without cupcakes! The maple caramel is my favorite.

Pros: good value, delicious, fast

Cons: no guacamole
