Lovely cafe with lovely food - Edit

Popped in there for lunch on a day off as I hadn't been before. The cafe is beautifully set out with a lovely interior. It was quiet as it was mid week and I was allowed to sit their and enjoy the space at my leisure. I had the jerk tofu served with rice and salad as this was the gluten free option. It was absolutely delicious.

Pros: Lovely venue, Really tasty fresh food

Lovely place with a good selection. - Edit

Visited this place on my way through to Brixton. Ordered an Americano with Oat Milk, very strong taste (I loved it). Unfortunately, as the last review states, there's only one front of house that also makes the coffees so it can be a little slow.
Ordered the sticky Seitan ribs with potato and pickled onion salad and bacon butter sweetcorn. Salad and sweetcorn was incredible, wasn't so keen on the Seitan. The texture was fine but the taste wasn't so on point.

Lovely atmosphere though, definitely recommend to friends!

Pros: 100% Vegan, Friendly staff, great selection of foo

Cons: Front of house definitely a little overworked!

Amazing!! - Edit

My friend and I had a lentil burger with relish and wedges and a chilli with plantain & mango relish, then for dessert sticky toffee pudding and a cupcake, every single bite was a taste explosion; heavenly and truly delicious. The staff and venue were lovely and prices were amazing - when I'm next in London I will definitely be returning!

Pros: creative, stunning tasty food, lovely boho-esqe venue, great prices

Cons: none

Lovely food in a lovely location - Edit

I really enjoyed my visit to Cafe van Gogh. The menu is a nice blend between traditional dishes (e.g. mushroom wellington, lentil bolognese pasta, burgers) and exciting new dishes reflecting the current London vegan eating scene (e.g. seitan sticky ribs, jackfruit stuffed chapatis). The desserts were very good too.

The restaurant is set in an old church, and is lovely and quaint, with lots of nods to van Gogh who used to live just round the corner (including a version of the Starry Night painted on the ceiling of the mezzanine).

We paid around £30 for a very filling meal for two (we brought our own wine).

Highly recommended. Independent vegan restaurants like this thoroughly deserve our custom.

Pros: Delicious food, Good value for money, Beautiful venue

Great food, and easy to get to! - Edit

I've been to Cafe Van Gogh for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and each visit has been outstanding.

London is becoming increasingly vegan-friendly, and Steve and his team at CVG are a big part of that transformation.

CVG's creations are at once familiar and comforting, while stretching the possibilities of everyday ingredients - the mac & cheeze I had last week was amazing, as was the golden latte I sampled.

Cafe Van Gogh, conveniently located near Oval and Brixton tube stations, is also a social enterprise. While you fill your belly with vegan goodness, you're also supporting your London neighbours with on-the-job training and skill development.

And, lest I forget, CVG is dog-friendly, so whether you're booking a sit-down dinner or popping in for a coffee, Cafe Van Gogh is a great choice for vegans and pre-vegans in London.

homely 5 star food bursting with flavour - Edit

This quaint vegan restaurant situated in a beautiful courtyard is my number 1 vegan go to. Community orientated with a really friendly atmosphere. There is a range of different dishes served so you will never be short of options and there is always good weekend and brunch deals on. If you are ever in SW9 (or not) you should definitely give it a visit

Excellent! - Edit

One of the best places that I have discovered recently. The food here is absolutely excellent. Huge portions, very tasty food but also very healthy. Try the plantain jerk, it's a great plate of food. Very quaint little restaurant and you can bring your own alcohol for just a two quid corkage fee. One of the best places around. From Brixton station, turn right up Brixton road about fifteen minutes and you will see this place on the left side of the road next to a church. On our visit, the entire menu was vegan. :)

Pros: Tasty but healthy, Great portions, Quaint venue

A 5 starry starry meal - Edit

Lovely little restaurant on the Brixton road. Almost entirely vegan with a changing menu of the day. FM has tried four dishes so far, plus puddings, and they've all been pretty amazing. Also quick service and good decor.

Is this the best veggie restaurant in South London?

FM

Pros: Variety and delicious across the board, Nice decor and relaxed ambiance, Quick service

I enjoyed it! - Edit

The menu was completely vegan on the day I visited. I ordered the plantain dish with a side of mac and no cheese, which was all very good. My only complaint would be that I wish the dish came with more of the "main" component rather than half of the plate being salad and pasta salad. Everything on the plate was still delicious, but there were a lot of sides, some of which were even larger than the main. My husband ordered the beetroot burger, which he didn't enjoy (take this with a grain of salt, sometimes he can be a picky eater). The staff was really friendly and chatted with us a little bit about where we're from and the area. They wished us a safe journey. Overall, I'd come back if in the area.

Pros: Full vegan menu (on that day), Friendly staff, Delicious mac and cheese

Cons: small main dish portions with too many sides

My Mother's Day Treat - Edit

I have passed this place so many times and today was my first time visiting this lovely place. We were given such a warm welcome and the manager, Steve was really happy for us, (my daughter and I ), to take photos and to film. We had the Jerk Plantain dish. I chose to eat here as they offered up vegan options and we were not disappointed. We would recommend our family friends to eat here.

Pros: Resonably priced. Good portions

Cons: I can't think of any! ooh I know...more vegan

Yummy Saturday Brunch - Edit

I have eaten Saturday brunch here twice. Delicious. I had the vegan huevos rancheros (with scrambled tofu) really delicious with fresh sourdough toast, blackbeans, fresh coriander salsa, and potatoes.

On my first visit they had a great vegan chocolate and strawberry cake. I ate a very generous and delicious slice!

Sadly on the second occasion no vegan cake was available.

Pros: indoor and outdoor seating available, Vegan Saturday brunch

Cons: vegan cake not always availible
