Vegan dining in rural Scotland? Yes please! - Edit
We were so pleasantly surprised to learn that Cafe Tioram, which is run by a couple of vegans, had several really imaginative vegan options on the menu. It's unusual for me to see a vegan breakfast on the menu and choose something else instead, but with jackfruit peppercorn 'steak' baguette with vegan coleslaw on offer, how could I refuse! (I'll have to find out what a clootie dumpling is some other time). The staff all super friendly. The vegan cake was excellent too, and a right doorstop slice.
Perhaps not an ideal destination if you're concerned about being close to other people during COVID (the space is quite tight) but the staff and customers were all respectful of COVID guidelines. Don't order a flat white expecting a flat white - you'll get a big cup of more-like-latte - but in the likely event you'll be sheltering from bad weather in the Cafe (it is the West of Scotland, after all), it's probably exactly what you'll be in the mood for. A hug in a mug.
The location of this place was immense, Acharacle itself is picturesque and stunning. I had a vegan coffee cake which was proper tasty and soft, and banana cake which again was so soft and moist, with fluffy banana frosting. I could easily have eaten the entire cakes.
