One of my favourites - Edit
All food is fully vegan, organic and high quality. The drinks can be prepared with soy milk or cow’s milk. The place is big, with beautiful wood tables, a piano, a courtyard, an art gallery etc. the staff is beyond lovely. The fair trade coffee is top quality. I just love spending time there. They also host events. I wish it was 100% vegan.

I wish I had more time to take it slow - Edit
Cafe Slow was a fantastic surprise during a train transfer. This eco friendly oasis is located just 8minutes walk from Kokubunji Station. 国分寺駅
Read moreThe set menus offer a delicious variety of flavours and the Natto is particularly unique. The Falafel is a little bit dry, but good falafel outside of the Middle East is hard to find so I’m not too bothered. The surprise star of the show though were the juiciest grapes I’ve ever had. The Mushrooms and Taro are always very filling and are fermented slightly for a more complex flavour.
The other surprise star of the show is the coffee. It’s so far the best I’ve had in Japan and they clearly take a lot of pride in it. The coffee came with a card explaining the origin of the beans, and whatever it said must have been fantastic.

Lots of options and helpful staff - Edit
Very friendly and helpful staff who will gladly answer questions about what is in each food item. Vegan options are clearly labeled on the menu and they even have a vegan kids option. Food was well cooked and delicious. Service was quick and easy. Be aware that in order to be seated you have to sign the clipboard at the front with your name or they will take the people behind you by calling out their name. Temperature check before coming into eat to help reduce the risk of Covid spread. Wonderful rustic atmosphere with lots of seating, shops, and additional items to take home that are vegan friendly. I will go back.

Cozy cafe with organic focus - Edit
I had lunch here. The vegan plate was delicious, but a little expensive for the price. But since they are using organic ingredients I think it can’t be helped. I liked the spacious interior with view into the garden, which is very rare for Japan, especially Kanto area.

Cafe Slow - A Relaxing, Open Cafe with lots of Vegan Goodies - Edit
I recently visited Cafe Slow for the first time after finding them on Instagram and wanting to go for a while. Every weekend they have a farmer's market/bulk foods fair in their outdoor space. They sell things like nuts, fruit, chocolate, cookies, hot drinks, and organic vegetables. I recommend getting there around 11-11:30 if you go on the weekend because it does get a little bit crowded later in the lunch hour (it was starting to get crowded around 12:30-1 when I left). There is a kids' space which has picture books and toys. There is a bakery which has some vegan bread (although some may be non-vegan so you should check). The cafe itself has some non-vegan foods (fish) but their vegan lunches, desserts, etc. are clearly marked and are plentiful! They use organic, local, and fair-trade food. The building uses solar power. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I would have given it 5 stars, but since it is not a fully vegan restaurant the site only allowed me to give 4 stars. I recommend it for anyone in the area. It's a little far from where I live, but I rode my bicycle there (it took about 2 hours). Bring your own containers if you can to fill up on their bulk foods!
