Nice food

The food was good, I was excited to try the banana korma because it's not something I've had before. I ordered takeaway and although the flavour was nice, it was a little cold even though I was only 7mins away from the restaurant. Also the rice was a little hard which suggested that it wasn't fresh but perhaps reheated.

Pros: Lots of options

Cons: Food wasn't hot and potentially reheated.

Colourful Vibes

Visited Saturday 4/3/23 as it’s now under new ownership (last visited pre-covid). The new owners have opened up the upstairs with at least six tables which is great as seating downstairs is limited. Nothing the owners can do about the toilet so this isn’t a criticism just a heads up for customers to keep their heads down😉The toilet is behind two doors in close proximity to each other and once the main toilet door is closed there’s not much room to manoeuvre. Leave bags with your companion if you have one as fitting you and a bag in there is difficult. Like I said not a criticism, just advice for the customer, I’m very grateful there is one available!
It was cold yesterday and the upstairs seating was cold and damp, the venue would benefit from some form of heating. It is all beautifully decorated and colourful, and sparkly with fairy lights :)
The banana korma was delicious and the hot dog huge! We look forward to returning.

Fabulously Updated and Improved!

I should caveat this by saying I was a fan of the food at Shanti previously, but found the decor overpowering and the service hit and miss.

We visited today after the re-opening with new management.

It's opened up inside with a staircase going up to a lovely seating area, made cosy with bright artwork and soft lighting. The wall hangings are still there but it's less overpowering, cleaner and brighter. We loved the feel of the place today.

The menu is a perfect mix of comfort food and the kind of vegan options I've been hoping someone in Lincoln would do for years now!

We both had burgers, the Shanti burger and the all outta cluck burger.

Both were large and very filling. The Shanti burger is a home made beef style patty, with so much flavour but no grease. A pleasure to eat and one we'll go back over and over for.

The all outta cluck burger is a battered seitan offering. I'm so jealous - I've been making seitan for years and I've never made anything even close to the wonderful texture of this. Plenty of chew and flavour. Incredible work by the kitchen on this.

Being very full, we shared a chocolate brownie for dessert. If I was in town, I'd be tempted to pop in just for this. Gooey, warm and offset by the ice cream. Perfect.

Two drinks, two main courses and a dessert came in at the great value total of £28.50.

We're looking forward to working our way through the rest of the menu!

Pros: Entirely vegan menu, business owned by vegans, Very good value for money , Lovely decor

Cons: There's no drinks licence so it's BYOB, Not possible to eat the whole menu in one sitting

OMG the worst place I’ve ever eaten

This is the worst place we have ever eaten. The food was bland the chips were frozen chips and still frozen ! I could not take pictures as the food went back to the kitchen , the tofu curry was so hard ! And the kitchen was so dirty ! And last of all mine was suppose to be gluten free and it came with GLUTEN, bread and they just took it off the plate ! When I told them and had explained that I was gluten free when we ordered. It’s the worse service we have had !

Pros: None , Very small and dirty , Toilet is a joke

Cons: Avoid , Staff clueless, Food 1/10

Cafe Shanti lunchtime

Good choices of street food style choices; hotdogs, burgers etc and a few choices of curries. Cosy small venue with a Nepalese theme although not sure why maybe missing some link here to Nepal. Maybe the chef is from Nepal? Friendly staff and decent lunchtime portions, desserts are quite small in my opinion. Heavy patchouli incense in the air if you like that kind of thing!

Pros: Lots of vegan street food options on menu, Tasty curries from daily menu, Friendly staff

Cons: Small space ‘intimate’, bit of a squeeze if full , Nepalese decor - why? , Cash or bank transfer only

Ordered a Ch*cken salad, Chilli Dog and a gingerbread latte on delivery. Food was lovely although the cream and gingerbread had melted into the latte.

Small and cosy

Really tasty food with a Nepalese-fusion theme. I had a falafel flatbread wrap (£8) which was really satisfying, it was a good portion. I also had the mint lemonade which was very refreshing (£2). Shame about the plastic takeaway cup. The menu is fully vegan with lots of options - although quite a few were processed meat-substitutes, I wish there had been some more vegetable based options (maybe I didn’t read the menu well). It’s a small cafe, I think it seated a 5, 3 and three 2 person tables. So book in advance if you don’t want to be disappointed, I had to get mine to takeaway.

Pros: All vegan - lots of options

Cons: Small seating area

Small independent vegan cafe open until 8pm

We enjoyed a delicious meal here on my birthday. When we phoned ahead no tables were available, but the window bar stools were kindly reserved for us. It's a quirky, characterful little cafe opposite the theatre, with colourful Nepalese decor and very friendly staff. The menu is extensive and service excellent. We had the banana korma and the chik'n korma which were both homecooked, very tasty and packed with fresh veggies. My tropical lassi was such a treat - vegan lassis don't normally exist! Then we shared salted caramel cheesecake and had coffees with oat / soya. There were also really tempting cakes on offer! We really enjoyed our visit and won't hesitate to return when we're in Lincoln.

Pros: Homemade tasty, healthy food, Helpful, friendly staff, Charming ambience and quirky decor

Cons: not many tables but this isn't a fault!

The best vegan food weve eaten

What can I say... probably the best vegan food weve ever eaten. PLEASE help support this local buisness, times are not easy.

If your tired of just having a vegan burger and chips and want a full menu with a variety of authentic currys, unique burgers, fajitas, desserts and drinks. The smoothies are amazing and many dishes are boosted with protein to keep those macros balanced.

The venue and decor itself is like stepping into a Nepalese themed chill out tent at a festival. Really sets the tone. The owners Tracy and Gary were lovely, we left feeling like we had made new friends. Great to chat too and even gave us a gift to celebrate our honeymoon.

We will be returning next time we visit Lincoln, please support this buisness and grab yourself a banging family meal :)

Pros: Huge variety of vegan food you dont usually get.

Hoping to come back again tomorrow for lunch!

Cons: Not many tables but they do takeaway with delivery

Excellent Vegan Food and Drinks

Visited here with my daughter for lunch at the weekend and we had a fantastic meal. The starters, mains and desserts were brilliant and some of the best vegan food I have tasted at a restaurant. The atmosphere is uniquely Nepalese and the owner is so welcoming this was a great vegan eating experience.

Wow!

What a place! Visited with a friend and we were both so impressed with this place. The decor is so colourful, bright and welcoming, I just wanted to pull up a bean bag and relax for the evening! The menu is huge, it took ages to choose what I wanted as there were lots of things I wanted to try! The portions are also huge. We ended up taking food home with us and unfortunately there was no room for dessert, which was a shame as the cakes in particular looked delicious. Great service from friendly happy staff too.

Pros: Central location, Lots of choice, Friendly service

Really Tasty, Really Filling!

This is good, honest food in an old skool veggie cafe with a menu that takes inspiration from around the globe. Curries, stews, toasties, wraps. Perfect falafels. Addictive sweet potato chips. Cake, cake and more cake. Portions are generous and great value. My 3 year old is always made very welcome although the downside with kids is that the maximalist ethnic decor gives them so much to fiddle with (and potentially destroy) and the door (onto a busy road) is often open so it's not always a relaxing experience. Other than that, I just can't fault them!

Pros: Lots of choice, value for money, loads of flavour
