Jackfruit Burger & BBQ Sauce - Edit
This vegan burger was so finger licking good. I can not even describe it. At first it reminded me on a portobello mushroom by the texture of the fruit patty, but it has its own texture and was really tasty. Well worth the money and we'll come back again - they even do pizza! ;-)
Pros: very good vegan food!! no need for dairy or even m, super bright 1st room with sky window , nice waiter and waitress :)
Cons: no place like this in my hometown in Austria :(

A wonderful vegan lunch! - Edit
My husband and I visited here after reading about their dedicated vegan menu, and we were not disappointed. Loads of delicious options on the menu and in the cabinets as well... I have to say it was some of the best vegan food weve ever had eating out in NZ to date! We even bought a takeaway pasta dish to take home for our dinner that night and that was amazing as well. We highly recommend it and will definitely be back - try the jackfruit burger! Sooo good!
Pros: Dedicated plantbased menu
Cons: Wish it was closer to where I live!

A nice cafe with a dedicated Vegan menu..... - Edit
We went here for a birthday lunch. The dedicated vegan menu was great. More choices than I have previously been used to when visiting cafes and everything we ordered was delicious and great quality. Friendly staff with great service in a nice little cafe alongside an art shop and galleries. I had a berry smoothie with my lunch and that was great too. We'll definitely return here for more lunch visits when visiting Palmerston North.
Pros: Great selection of Vegan food, Nice, clean cafe and friendly staff, Good size portions, fresh ingredients.

Nearly everything vegan or vegetarian - Edit
In a 'meat centric' town like Palmerston North it would be almost impossible for a purely veg restaurant to survive, yet, apart from a few token menu items, this is a vegetarian/ vegan place. I took my carnivorous 95 year old aunt, who asked for ham in her cheese sandwich and got it, but meat was otherwise not very visible. We visited twice in one week during a road trip. I had a brown rice and nut salad, and later a wonderful leek and vege soup - all with a home made whole grain sour dough bread. Husband had a vege burger and later a filo quiche, with the egg replace by a chickpea flour- based filling. There is an enticing range of desserts and cakes. The place was full each time we visited including a long table of elderly 'ladies who lunch' - unlikely to be vegetarians but obviously regulars enjoying good food. Vegan wines and beers are available. The owner is friendly and interested in customers' tastes. The cafe is in a heritage Art Deco building used as an arts centre. Well worth a visit.
Pros: Mainly vegan and vegetarian, Large menu choice, Varied and original food
Cons: None

Impressive vegan menu - Edit
Cafe Royale has a "Plants Only" special menu with at least 6 breakfasts, over 10 lunch items and four pizzas. They also have a Grain Free menu, plus a range of the normal NZ cafe foods for the non-veges.
The Pizza Bianca had a delicious base but we should have listened to their warning about it being very garlicky - it was a bit much. Next time we'll try one of the other ones.
The 4.5 year old loved the mushroom hash and my vegan big breakfast was pretty good but needed a sauce to tie it all together.
The coffee was good, but ask for a tulip cup for your soy flat white or you'll get a big bucket of coffee flavoured soy milk.
With friendly staff and a nice clean-and-bright ambience, we'll definitely be going back next time we're in Palmerston North.
Pros: Range of food, Nice ambience

Superb vegan eatery - Edit
Lovely little cafe set in an art gallery. I seriously wish I hadn't left it until our last day in Palmerston North to visit. The menu has lots of vegan choices and the owner is very happy to talk through the options (although he wouldn't share his recipe for his tomato sauce which was astoundingly good). Vegan Ravioli was fantastic and lentil patty burgers outstanding. Undoubtedly the best meal in Palmerston North. Craft beers to accompany the meal and a peice of vegan coffee and walnut cake to take home for later. Yummy!
Pros: Lots of vegan options and a great owner/manager
Cons: Nothing

The best Palmy has - Edit
They have a separate vegan menu, consisting of healthy savoury dishes. The dishes don't particularly tickle my fancy so I've only ever opted for the chocolate cake when I've been there, which was very rich, but definitely the best place to go in Palmy if you want cafe food with more substance than salad.
The cafe is in an arts centre, so it's very sophisticated feeling, I've never utilised the outdoor seating, but it's not really my style for a cafe, but very suited to the vegan market.
Pros: Vegan, Healthy
Cons: No chips on menu (fair enough)

love it ! - Edit
Great cafe for the niche market which is totally lacking in palmy! Just need to get the word out! I love the vegan menu and vegan cabinet food! Also have had dinner on a Friday night and enjoyed the courtyard on the hot evening!
Pros: courtyard, options for vegans(whole menu) , paleo and meat ea, quirky decor
Cons: not easily found- rely on word of mouth
