Cute vegan spot - Edit
I got the peppermint London fog and a breakfast burrito.
Read moreI ordered it to eat there and planned on sitting outside. Since I hadn’t been in before, I asked the server if I was supposed to wait for my order or if they brought it out to me. She told me they would bring it out.
Shortly after that she brought my drink out. No burrito though. After 20 minutes I went inside to check on it (where I found my order sitting on the counter). I wasn’t happy.
Because the servers were all super lovely to interact with & welcoming, I’ll chalk it up to a miscommunication between team members.
Should I ever go back, I know now to stand there & wait.
The peppermint London fog was delicious (I wish I had ordered a larger size) and the burrito was good.
Pros: All vegan, Lots of options , Friendly servers
Cons: “To go” packaging on all orders

3 stars on a vegan place because you’re too polite to ask where your delicious burrito went. Great job!!

The vegan bacon breakfast sandwich is the best breakfast sandwich I’ve had! I come here often to get breakfast before work. Everyone who works here is great.

Vegan and Gluten-free - Edit
I get super excited anytime I find a place that I can indulge in both vegan and gluten-free items. This place did not disappoint. I had avocado toast, a cookie, and coffee. A well rounded breakfast😉

Incredible food and drinks!! - Edit
I'd heard Cafe Red was good but I wasn't expecting it to be SOOOO GOOOOD!! The avocado toast is spectacular and seriously the best I've ever had. The spices are spot on and the bread is divine. The sausage breakfast sandwich is hearty and delicious too. And the lavender menace! What a drink! What a lavender delight! I would buy it by the gallon if I could. (Hint, hint.)
Read moreI see a lot of other reviews saying that the food here is overpriced, but the avocado toast is $10, the breakfast sandwiches are $10... To me, these are stellar prices for vegan breakfast foods of such high quality, to the point that I was surprised by how low they are when I first came here. If you want a real cheap breakfast, go home and make yourself some oatmeal. If you want a flavorful and filling breakfast, go to Cafe Red!
Pros: Great food, Speedy service , Reasonable prices
Cons: Parking can be difficult to find

Adorable place - Edit
I loved the avocado toast, the hashbrown patty and the pesto breakfast sandwich. The bacon sandwich was also good, but something was missing. The hot cocoa tasted a bit like water, but was still very good. The only negative point is the price, it cost more then 50$ without the tip.

Red-iculous Prices - Edit
Hate to trash this place having remembered them when they first opened when the vibe was a small, modest, reasonably priced, personable vegan owned and operated chill space.
Read moreNow, it's like two tables next to an open toilet door, (cuz the staff doesn't close the door after themselves when they go) and a bunch of money for a little food.
All done, before tip, $25 for a muffin sandwich, coffee and a cookie. Coffee was weak, sandwich was great and the cookie was great ok, that's something I did enjoy it, but it was like getting a speeding ticket, it's just not fun when it costs so much.
After ordering, I asked the barista if she was vegan and she said, "personally?" Is there someone else she thought she should be answering for? Lol. Yes. She said no, and I asked, "Why not? Just hate animals?" She laughed and said no. Like that was a silly suggestion.
Alright listen up. If you pay a hitman to kill a baby, that's not just hatred, but extreme prejudice of the most horrific order. It's beyond hate. It's damning disdain for a living being. Loathing is to order the murder of a baby to have him or her chopped up, forced to reproduce or whatever else to make his or her flesh, milk or hatchlings into mutilated corpses to be your poop in the toilet. If you are not vegan. You don't just hate, you loathe the very right for animals to live.
So, I answered, "Why not go vegan then? Just wake up tomorrow and be vegan!" She answered that she wouldn't know what to eat. "Like snacks and stuff, I wouldn't know how to do that."
You work in a vegan snackbar and you don't know what veganism is? Weird. You don't know what vegans eat, though? Embarrassing. I guess it'll have to stay a mystery. What do vegans even eat?????? 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️

Pros: tasty food, cook seems great
Cons: too pricey, for the love of animals, teach your staff what veganism is
caferedseattle
Thanks for your feedback. Gotta be honest, you must be living under a rock if you don’t understand how expensive it is to operate a small service business in Seattle. Our prices are incredibly fair considering the quality of ingredients and the effort that goes into everything, especially considering our entire staff is paid an actual living wage, and we stand by our prices. We think our coffee rocks, but we would have remade it or made you something else without a second thought. All you had to do was ask.
Read moreYou also have to be living under a rock if you think we have the privilege of only hiring vegans. We love hiring vegans but we don’t get nearly enough vegans applying to fill the shifts we need help with. That is a absurd expectation to have of any small business in this environment. Cafe Red has always been and always will be a vegan-owned business. If you want more vegans to work here, we are accepting applications if you have weekends free😉
I’m also unsure how many vegan converts you think you’ll make by berating service workers in the middle of their shifts, but I promise it’s less than we’ve made by simply demonstrating that quick, great and unpretentious vegan food can easily become part of your life. You can be “right” and still have no tactfulness whatsoever.
Also yes, we are a small space with limited indoor seating. However there are over 30 seats in the covered portion of our outdoor patio and another dozen seats in the uncovered portion. Strange you left that out when you complained about the seating.

No offense but people like you are the reason that vegans get a bad rep…

No "offense" but let me do my best to insult you and blame you personally for billions of dollars in anti-vegan lobbying, advertising, propaganda and brainwashing. What a freaking moron.
Read moretheNumberOfTheBeast
Hey cafered, asking a server in a vegan cafe why they're not vegan is not berating them, pull your pants out of yer crack. Sorry you felt you had to write a novella trying to justify your ding-dong employees and stupidly inflated prices while trying to denigrate my activism, which I will do wherever, whenever and however I feel like, it you ahat. I work for the animals, not for you, dumbnuts. And no I don't wanna sit outside in a column of vehicular pollution on your stupid expanded capacity patio while I consume my overpriced (yeah sorry, eff yer excuses, it's still overpriced) food which pays your anti-vegan employees their slave labor salaries. And yeah, I looked for help wanted signs because I know lots of vegans looking for work, but I sure as fugg didn't see any. So, good job. Add-- owner is a dikhead who spends too much time attacking people on reviews sites who write reviews and they don't like his bougie business. What a creep. Kiss my arse.

Excellent sandwiches - Edit
The pesto was great, their house made plant-based egg is amazing. The sausage was slightly greasy. Perfectly located right opposite to the train station, beautiful murals on the buildings around and a large park nearby.

Great little cafe - Edit
We tried the pesto breakfast sandwich and both of the breakfast wraps (veggie and chorizo), hot matcha latte and iced peppermint mocha oatnilla. I’m not a bread connoisseur but that breakfast Sammy was pretty [censored] tasty—love the pesto and the greens give it some good texture. We were really happy with everything we ordered. We’re looking forward to coming back to try more of their menu. 😊

Not Bad Cafe Red Not Bad At All - Edit
Love that they went vegan. In the old days before the transformation, they were not vegan and the vegan options seemed to pain the staff and did not have me coming back. Now, the options are plentiful and quality is lovely. My wife still makes the best breakfast sandwich in western Washington but Red’s is very close to upsetting our household.

This place was the perfect stop to start our day in Seattle. The portions matched the prices so that was nice. The macaroni impressed us both and was actually one of the best we’ve ever had! Wish we had gotten more to eat before leaving. Also loved that we got to have this style of hashbrown for the first time since going vegan!
