Kyoto restaurant cafe serving salad, tempeh sandwiches, tofu curry, taco rice, ramen noodle, beverages, and more. Mostly vegan except some honey and dairy products used in some of their products. Formerly Cafe Peace, now under new management since March 2008. SHUT DOWN AT THIS LOCATION JAN 15, 2014 PER ITS WEBPAGE. LOOKING TO RE-LOCATE - please let happycow know when it re-opens!

You have to trek up here if you're in Kyoto - Edit
The location isn't that great for tourists. You can subway and then cab it the rest of the way. They've got some vegan goods from the USA for sale, too near the register. Its near the university. The food is all outstanding, try everything!

Great setting, lovely food - Edit
I adored Cafe Peace from the start. The food is good and (relatively) cheap. I love the fact that they ask you what size rice you want (there's no extra charge, they just don't want any to go to waste) and that they use organic ingredients whenever possible. Highly recommended and easy to find. At the corner of Imadegawa and Higashioji, near Kyoto University.

A vegetarian oasis! - Edit
Wonderful vegetarian restaurant with Japanese set meals and curries in a lovely little third floor space. After having struggled to find vegetarian food for several weeks in Japan I was thrilled to find Cafe Peace! Delicious food, soothing atmosphere. Located near Kyoto University.
