Pleasant Cafe with Great Brunch - Edit

I've been here twice now - once for lunch a while ago, and once for breakfast quite recently, and both were nice! It's a bit of a shame that the menu isn't fully vegan, but there are still good options (including almost all of the baked goods). I would really recommend the breakfast salad bowl and soy cappuccino. The atmosphere is relaxing (someone else noted that they play nice music) with lots of space.

Excellent combo plate + coffee - Edit

The combo plate is always very good, and so is the coffee. The combo plate contains plenty of vegetables and a nice variety of dishes, usually rice, some soup/stew, potato pie, tsukemono, salad, tofu and a little dessert.
There are few veg*n places in that area of Kyoto so it's nice to have Phalam around.

Pros: variety, good coffee

Next to Nijo station - Edit

They only had two vegetarian options for lunch - a burger and a combo plate (both were delicious). I think both could also be done vegan, but not sure. They sold a few organic and fair trade goods - and had good coffee!

Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Location

Cons: Choice

Walking distance from Nijo Station and open early - Edit

It's very difficult to find veggie restaurants/café that open as early as 8am. I'm glad they did (so that my friend and I can have a great breakfast before going to Nijo Castle). The breakfast is nice.. love the soup and bagel with coffee.. The lady speaks really good English :D

Pros: opens early and easy to find (just opposite Lawson

Cons: limited choices

good food and convenient location - Edit

Right near Nijo station so very convenient location. The food is delicious but the desert I had was a little dry the first day. Service was great and the staff are very willing to help.

Lovely spot - Edit

A welcome addition to the Kyoto vegetarian scene, this cafe serves a daily combination plate as well as vegetarian burgers. The combo plate set was delightful - a chickpea stew, a small slice of (purple!) potato & onion pie, brown rice, a salad containing lots of different beans, plus a small tofu side dish & some pickles. There was also a yogurt dessert but they do have vegan cakes so may be able to swap the non-vegan elements. The staff were friendly and spoke some English. The daily menu was available in English at the counter where you order.

Pros: delicious food, friendly staff, good location near JR Nijo station
