Vegan options in Dartmoor

Clearly labeled vegan options in Dartmoor, amongst them a vegan burger, hummus with sourdough and vegan fritters. Beautiful outdoor seating right beside a historic church. Small minus: plant-based milk is more expensive than cow milk, seems outdated.

Seemingly a hidden gem

A lovely little place, it could be 4 stars but we didn't get to try to food so holds potential for good vegan food. We only stopped for cake and coffee; we tried a slice of coffee and walnut cake and a gizzilionaire slice, plus some vegan smoothies made with coconut milk. The gizzilionaire slice was very nice and the cake had a lot of walnuts, if a bit dry. But we noticed many vegan options, including a vegan moving mountains burger, cheese and chutney sandwich, multiple toasties, sweet potato and lentil or a harissa aubergine and chickpea salad. But additionally several vegan specials including multiple soups; a summer salad bowl with a green tahini dressing and a choice of pea and lemon fritters, fennel and radish salad or harissa and maple carrots; and a miso aubergine burger.
Noticeably options have a much kinder note of “can be easily made vegan” if not already, which feels far more welcoming than the usual. Even if we didn’t get to try them, it seemed like a good spot if out nearby and staff were friendly. Only concern was the cow hide hanging on the wall which was perhaps a little off-putting.

Pros: Several vegan options, Friendly staff

Cons: Cow hide hanging on wall

Vegan options not an afterthought

What a treat to find somewhere in the middle of Dartmoor with a good range of vegan options that are actually thought out rather than feeling like an afterthought. I had a miso aubergine burger off the specials board and it was fab. They also have vegan cakes, the smoothies are all vegan and they have a range of alt milks.

Most importantly, it's all delicious!

Pros: Range of options, Portion sizes, Taste

So refreshing to have good vegan options

Stopped here for lunch with a friend.

Great vegan selection - and considered, not an afterthought as it sometimes can be.

Cheese and kimchi toastie was delicious.

AMAZING creative vegan food

Who would think that a remote cafe on Dartmoor would serve up such a feast!!! There’s clearly a brilliant chef at the back of the old village hall!

Great vegan choices

Popped in here for a drink on a drive through Dartmoor to find it had plenty of vegan options- the salads sounded lovely. Sadly we didn’t eat here but wished we had arrived earlier in time for lunch.

Pros: Plenty of choice for vegans , Nice outdoor seating

Cons: Only open for lunch and not in evening

Dartmoor Delight

The only reason I cannot give 5 stars to this great cafe in the picturesque Dartmoor town of Widecombe is because it has meat options. But extensive range of vegan choices in breakfast, all delicious. Their full vegan breakfast includes avocado, sourdough, homemade hummus, and mushrooms. All drinks have alternative milk options and and 3 or 4 different vegan cake options. Lovely area to sit outside.

Absolutely stunning place with attention to detail in everythin

Absolutely stunning cafe, it's huge and more like a restaurant really, attention to detail is evident in everything, decor, food, service.
Lovely options clearly stating what can be made vegan. They even let me bring my own gf bread so I could eat. Gf vegan cakes too. Will definitely return.

Pros: Options can be made vegan and clearly stated , Gf vegan cakes, Plant milks

Cons: None
