Incredibly Tasty Ice Cream - Edit
Let's start with the best part: fresh ice cream with real fruit! We ordered the fig and the currant, and they were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. This also turned out to be a perfect combination of flavors; we loved the contrast of the bright, acidic currant with the smooth, rich fig. It tasted like real fruit with nice chunks. Come here for the ice cream alone, it was the real star of the show!
Read moreOn to the food: We enjoyed the soy meat curry. It was substantial, filling, and had a nice light spiciness to it. Would recommend.
Now on to the pasta: it was fine, 3/5. We liked it well enough to finish it, but it was nothing special. I wouldn't get it again.
In summary, this place has some great options, and DO NOT skip the ice cream!!

All Vegan - Edit
The best thing about this place is the desserts and that its all vegan. Otherwise nothing special. The food is decent but nothing special. For the price and the small portion size of pasta I would think it would come with a small salad and a slice of bread compared to other places we have been to with organic food in Japan. The cake on the other had was very delicious!

Nice lunch and delicious ice cream - Edit
We were here for lunch and tried the curry, soup and the olive/dried tomato pasta. We also had strawberry ice cream for dessert.
Read moreThe pasta was a little too salty for me. The curry was nice. The bread for the soup was one of the best we had in Japan. The ice cream was also really really nice.
Overall really nice lunch spot, especially with the limited options in Kurashiki. Highly recommend getting some ice cream for dessert!

I came here twice in one day, as the other vegan place I wanted to try wasn't open. No complaint as both meals were beautiful. Had a spaghetti for lunch and curry for dinner.

Beautiful space - Edit
After stocking up on bits and pieces in the store, we relaxed in the Cafe Natural for some tea, rice milk hot chocolate and ice cream. We tried the orange flavour, and our favourite, rosewater and elderflower. The cafe is a lovely setting, very natural style. We did hear a sad dog crying, which made us sad too.

Sweet little cafe - Edit
Stopped by here for lunch one day. Would definitely recommend it as it’s one of the few vegan places I was able to find in kurashiki. The bolognese was lovely and we got some almond ice cream for desert which hit the spot after a hot morning walking round the town. The only downside is that the portions are not that big so if you’re very hungry then you might be left feeling hungry again after a short while.

Charming spot in old Kurashiki - Edit
They recently moved the cafe to the second floor, and the first floor is now all groceries (not all vegan or vegetarian, so check the labels).
Read moreThe name has changed to Café Nature and the first floor is now called Marché Nature.
The cafe is beautifully designed out of wood and the toilets are really nicely designed. They have a pretty back deck too that reminds me of a lot of places in Taiwan.
I love the genovese pasta but it does a number on my stomach for some reason- my friend agreed on both counts! I still won't stop eating it because it's so good.
The curry rice is really big and was tasty.
The bread is a white baguette and comes with some extremely high-quality olive oil.
I loved the vegan parfait- mine didn't have shiratama dango and vanilla ice cream on it like the photo outside advertised but instead matcha jelly, matcha ice cream, citrus slices, and a cookie. It was very tasty.
Be careful not to mis-order the strawberry parfait if you are vegan- that one's not a soy parfait.
I've also tried the organic soymilk ice cream but definitely prefer the parfait.
The only menu item I was a bit disappointed by was the soy latte- it was pretty watery.
I loved the food and picked up a couple of their cookies and sweets to take home- Daichinomi matcha cookie balls and Yukidoke black sesame sweets- I wasn't crazy about the matcha cookies as they were a bit hard. The black sesame sweets were more like sugar and black sesame mixed together- simple, but not bad.
I love how they have a wide variety of groceries and a vegan mark on the menu and even on their homemade cookies. It made shopping really easy.
The pasta was 1000 yen, parfait 1200, soy latte 650, green matcha cookies for takeaway 170, black sesame sweets for takeaway 180.
I am sure if I lived closer I would visit all the time.

Amazing modern Japanese fusion cafe with vegan options - Edit
This beautiful and trendy cafe is located right at the entrance of the traditional Bikan area in Kurashiki. We stumbled upon this cafe after not finding anything on Happy Cow, and were so happy to be able to add this to the list of vegan-friendly spots in Okayama!
Read moreTrendy interior inspired by the traditional architecture, organic, local vegetables and delicious vegan options. All vegan meals have the vegan symbol. We ate here 4 times in the 2 days we were in Kurashiki (the staff were very amused and kind about our frequent visits!) Staff speak a little English and the menu is fully bilingual. Some of the best, healthy vegan food and desserts we’ve had in a while! We had every vegan option on the menu. Our recommendations are the curry, grilled veggies, bread, veggie sandwich and soy cream dessert. Check out our pics!
Pros: only restaurant with vegan options in the Bikan ar, English menu, Organic, local veggies
