Delicious

I can usually be quite harsh, but this resto was great. I had the beach bowl which I really liked. Each component was nice individually and worked really well altogether: Although it had brown rice instead of the advertised quinoa. it had (not spicy) kimchi, coconut bacon, avocado, carrot noodles, lemony kale and a ?almond dressing.... SO GOOD!!!

My omni friends liked their meals, including their first intro to tempeh.

PS: This resto was nearly entirely vegan. I just spotted eggs on their brunch menu. Did not see any meat.

Pros: delicious flavours, wide variety of food, enthusiastic server

Cons: menu did not reflect kitchen, no quinoa

The best Vegan restaurant in Ottawa.

My wife and friends have been to this Vegan Restaurant about ten times in the last year, the food has always been excellent, from the starters to mains to the delicious desserts. Had a chance to eat in some Vegan restaurants in New York City, and this restaurant compares very favourably to them as well. We will be back again very soon.

Pros: Great food, Great service, Very nice atmosphere

Very Solid Ottawa Option

I thought My House was a nice addition to the Ottawa scene. This is one of the places that makes life difficult for Happy Cow, as it is defined as a "meat serving" place, but unlike 90% of the places that normally fall into that category, the meat dishes are the rarity here. I am vegan, and had the pick of the menu, with only a few dishes including fish or meat of some sort. We ordered a few things, and all were very good. I enjoyed the French Toast, and the mini burgers were both cute and yummy. Good shakes as well. I think this place was very good, and I'd come again. It is deserving of four stars, though I continue to hate the Happy Cow policy that limits meat serving restos to four cows. In my view, the quality of the place and the food served should be the priority here. That said, in this case, four is fair.

More vegan-friendly than many veg restaurants

Cafe My House is a reflection of the people who run it (one is a vegan), and its location (just on the fringe of central Ottawa, not in an overly vegan area). It is mostly vegan, and totally delicious. It's a nice sit down place; unpretentious, comfortable, and with a hugely varying menu. They specialize in vegan brunch, but also have some amazing entrees.

Listing it as veg-friendly, while true, since it does serve some meat, almost does it a disservice. I have been to "vegetarian" restaurants so heavy on the eggs and cheese that a vegan has few options. A vegetarian restaurant that relies on dairy and eggs is no better to a vegan than a completely omnivorous restaurant.

At Cafe My House, vegan is the norm, and the majority. See for yourself: http://www.veganlifeatmyhouse.com/p/menu.html

I have given it four stars only because that's the maximum allowed for non-veg restaurants. I have never tried anything I didn't like. Personal favorites include the Healthy Me Breakfast, Macrobiotic Mini Burgers, and Creamy Soba Noodles. My partner's favorite is the Veg Bi-Bim-Bop.

National Capital Vegetarian Association (www.ncva.ca) members get a 10 per cent discount here.

Pros: Amazing brunch, Healthy but not crunchy, Extremely knowledgeable about veganism

Cons: Some meat!

Couldn't agree more. The limitation by Happy Cow is at its most ridiculous here. I have been to "vegetarian" restaurants where I couldn't eat a single thing on the menu - but they are still eligible for five cows. It's complete nonsense. A "meat serving" restaurant that caters extensively to vegan is better than a veggie resto that is all dairy and cheese, in my opinion. They should be treated equally.

Something for everyone

Ever have to find a place for that you can go with the die-hard "if it ain't got meat, it ain't dinner" person, but want to hold to your veg ethics? You know you have.

This is the place. I've taken everyone here from the 'I only eat steak' to the 'high raw' diners and they've all found something they've loved. Staff is attentive, fast and, here's a special treat, playfully intelligent.

Pros: Great food, Great staff, Incredible variety

Cons: Odd location
