Review of the vegetarian beef tenderloin

This is specifically a review of the vegetarian "beef tenderloin" as it's a new product from Redefine Meat. It is not suitable for vegans as I had it, although there are several other options including loaded nachos with vegan kebab.

If you want to experience what it's like to eat a steak without actually eating meat...this isn't it. I shared pictures with my friends and they said it seemed mostly like a weird pot roast. Redefine Meat calls this a flank steak, Loetje says tenderloin, but it's clearly some weird stringy mess. It's 3D printed, so apparently that technology isn't up to creating something meat-like.

Now, as for the actual review of Loetje. I am pretty sure the "Loetje sauce" was just melted butter. Hence not being vegan (it's not advertised as such), it's SO MUCH BUTTER. I didn't know it was physically possible to have "too much butter" in a meal, but Loetje managed it. The primary flavor was butter. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just butter.

It's served with bread to sop up the butter. I imagine this is useful for the meat version but for the vegetarian version, my god, I do not need more butter.

The staff, however, were excellent. I really enjoyed my experience, even if I didn't enjoy the food. Note: I was at the Centraal location, which isn't listed on HappyCow, but the menus are the same across Loetje locations.

Pros: The opportunity to try 3D printed food, The staff were friendly , It was crowded but they still got me in quickly

Cons: Too much butter
