Vegan cafe est. 2016 in downtown across from Charles Hoey Park. Makes vegan meals and baked goods in a coffee shop environment. Reporte closed March 2022.
I love the food. First time eating from here and it was delicious! I got the BLT and a chocochip muffin. I would love to see a copy of the menu on this webpage for people who don’t have Facebook.
Amazing vegan café with tons of healthy and delicious options. The staff were so helpful with giving us some recommendations. I got the vegan BLT and it was to die for. I also recommend trying their Italian cream soda!
My husband and I are from Southern California and are vegan. We come to the Island often to visit family. How happy were we to find this charming, eclectic, delicious cafe in downtown Duncan ! In addition to made to order tofu scramble and french toast we had for breakfast, we bought a bunch of pastries and desserts to take to my Aunt's for tea (zucchini bread, banana bread, scones, carrot cake - all were moist and a hit with everyone). But the best was the stunning custom birthday cake they made for my mom. I called before we left California to see if they could make a custom cake and they woman I spoke to was accommodating, knowledgeable and so sweet. And her creation far exceeded my expectations. Thank you Cafe La Vie. We'll see you next time we're there. Peace and Plants .
Great little eclectic feeling cafe. It's run by a 3 generation family. Grandma, daughter and granddaughter. They are very sweet and their food is delicious. I got a tomato vegetable soup, bagel sandwich and a creamsicle float. It was all very yummy! Duncan garage is a nice kinda veg place across the street. But this place is fully vegan and they run their business with so much love. Def going back as much as possible!
We visited june 2017 and had the best vegan cinnamon buns we've ever tasted! The iced caramel macchiato was also very very good! Its a small family vegan bakery and is definitely worth a visit
Cafe La Vie is a very welcome new addition to the growing vegan scene in Duncan. The mother-daughter owners of this place make almost everything from scratch from fresh natural ingredients, and they really know what they're doing in the kitchen! The meals are satisfying and hearty with rich, complex flavours. They offer a nice selection of creative wraps, sandwiches and soups, daily specials, and homemade baked goods. I ordered the chickpea "egg" salad sandwich which is made with their homemade vegan mayo, with the delightfully unexpected addition of dried cranberries. My partner had a bean chili wrap and, though he's a man of few words, I can tell he appreciated how fresh and natural the food was while still being full of flavour and satisfying. The strawberry-pear crumble that we shared for dessert was a real treat and came with yummy whipped coconut cream. We had a nice chat with the super-friendly owners and as we talked they let us try samples of their bbq jackfruit, their peanut sauce, and their crunchy-chewy vegan bacon. We can't wait to go back for more, and we highly recommend this place for vegans and nonvegans alike!
