Serves meat, vegan options available. Thai streetfood eatery and tea bar. Budget style. Has separate, extensive vegan/vegetarian menu with dishes clearly marked. Open Mon-Sun 11:30am-10:00pm.
I love Cafe Isan. It's cozy, the food is very tasty, and the owners are super friendly and go out of their way to introduce more and more vegan dishes.
I'd say "Beware the spice levels" - I like spicy food, but even I don't dare to go beyond "Medium". There's also "Hot" and "Thai Spicy". The food's as authentic as it goes, with Chef New having come to Dubai directly from Isan and Cafe Isan is hugely popular among the Thai community in the UAE.
The cafe always had a good choice of vegetarian and vegan options, but recently they introduced a separate vegan menu for dine-in and delivery and it's extensive.
The grilled mushroom & tofu satay is one of my favourites and the laab cakes (papaya & veg) are also great. For mains, I either order the vegan Massaman curry or the vegan version of "The Hustler" (a streetfood favourite). The owners grow a lot of the vegetables and herbs used in the dishes just outside the restaurant and Cafe Isan overall is just a lovely place to hang out at and grab some food and an ice tea.
