Friendly, quiet, fresh - Edit
Friendly, open, vegetarian, "bio" space. Not too many vegan option without garlic but it's peaceful and nice to hang out there. Larger than many veggie places, so even a group of 20 persons may find a place. Fresh food, good coffee. Vegan tiramisu ;) . Talk to them, they will find vegan solutions (mostly bread-and-salad-based). Located in quiet side street, 5 mins from city center. No animal rights stickers or flyers but an Europan café / restaurant / hang out space. Open Sundays which is also unusual (= very good).

Prime address - Edit
I have been at Habibi's several times within the last couple of years and have left almost always satisfied. The staff there take pains to offer each guest a satisfactory stay. It's furnished in good style, they have some board games and so on, German newspapers on a daily basis and a notice-board with all kinds of announcements and information (which isn't being cherished for that much lately, unfortunately); so even coming alone you won't become bored easily. Sometimes the owner (a friendly Indian woman) comes around as well to engage you in a conversation.
As far as I remember I have never met anyone who was disappointed by the food, so that's certainly a huge upside of Habibi's. The special daily menu changes a lot, they try to offer a big variety with dishes from local ingredients. In terms of price I wouldn't call it inexpensive, but for that you get high quality food. After all the prices are fair and you'll get a pretty good value. In my opinion only beverages could be a bit cheaper.
The vegan gyros a always a good choice, also often times they offer really great soups. The vegan tiramisu as dessert is being showered with compliments on a regular basis.
The location is not in very downtown but still pretty close, somewhat hidden a an unsuspicious-looking living street.
I am not sure if I should mention it or not, but there have been rumors over the years that the staff have to cede their tips to the owner who allegedly keeps it to herself. I can't claim with certainty whether that's true or not though.
After all Cafe Habibi is consistently a great venue, come what may. Consequently I do give five cows.
Pros: great opening times, good value, good attitude

Kitchen closes early - Edit
Stopped in Darmstadt for a night during my roadtrip and picked the place based on the rating, and opening hours as I arrived late. Unfortunately kitchen was closed, but the atmosphere is great and their vegan tiramisu is quite good :)

cute place for a dinner - Edit
In Darmstadt I would choose this place if I wanted to go out for dinner and I was a vegan. The Restaurant is small - there is not much in the card but the options are home made and good. There menu is 80% vegan and they have always vegan desserts. Friendly and young alternative place.
Pros: Friendly staff, home made food, cheap
Cons: limited menu card

Good attitude - Edit
Habibi has lots of vegan options and makes very ethical choices regarding the products they offer (eg no Coca-Cola due to the company's mistreatment of human rights). They do have dairy but at least state that it is also selected carefully.
I was there for lunch, we had the dish of the day (which you can check out online) and a falafel, which was all great. Wasn't a big fan of the coffee - from the sound of the frothing, they must have frothed the milk too hot and not in the right manner it did not reach the right texture and was subsequently too hot for a good barista coffee.
Pros: Fair prices, Ethical choices of all products, Yummy

Great food, cheap, lots of vegan options - Edit
Habibi is great!
I ate there with 2 friends recently, and you get a LOT of food for a small price. Most items on the menu can be made vegan, they also have specials, a Sunday brunch, desserts - most of the desserts and specials on the Sunday we went were vegan, and the staff is knowledgeable about how to make your items vegan.
I had the Soya-Gyro plate with salad. It was difficult to finish, because there is so much food, only for 5,50€ ! Also, the hot chocolate is very good.
I definitely want to go here again. Good food with bold flavors and lots of options to try.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Doesn't serve meat

Worth a detour - Edit
As others have said, the soy gyros is excellent - the best I have ever tasted, and at a very good price.
Not everything is vegetarian though.
