Over hyped? - Edit
Maybe I was expecting too much, but I feel this place is super trendy and therefor as popular. The food was ok, but the pizza took forever to prepare and everything was overly priced. The flavours were ok, but I’m not sure the tempeh was that fresh. Also don’t like the concept with every dish being named “I am worthy” or “I am beautiful” etc and the waitress having to say this cheesy line when serving the food “You are beautiful, enjoy your food”.

The gold standard of vegan food in LA - Edit
I feel very lucky to have Cafe Gratitude in LA - its a restaurant that knows exactly what it's doing, and cares about you for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Read moreNot only is the food here great, but they have put incredible effort into ensuring its good for you. That means things like fibre, protein, polyphenols.. all the things that underpin nutrition and are so important when you're plant based are thought of with options for you to be slightly more indulgent or really look after yourself. In most ways you probably won't even know that though - you'll just see tasty things you want to eat.
I honestly can't think of any other restaurant that goes to this level of care and tastes as good as it does.
If I were to have a negative, as I guess I have to, it's not cheap and can feel quite casual as a dining experience for the money you can end up paying... but I guess that's just LA.
For true vegans, just an fyi - they do use honey in a few things, notably the drinks.
Pros: Delicious plant based food, Extremely nutritionally considered , Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks - all great.
Cons: Uses honey, Expensive

Food is great - Edit
Like all these high-end plant-based eateries, the food is absolutely delicious. Service was a little slow. They have an app, so you can order in advance. They also have a cookbook containing recipes for many of the menu items. Just a great restaurant that fills you with gratitude that they’re there. Jackfruit enchiladas are awesome and so are the smoothies. Yum.

Over hyped, over priced. - Edit
The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. My expectations were a lot higher for this place, especially given the price. I've had much better meals for much less money.

You have my gratitude, Cafe Gratitude! - Edit
Been to one before in San Diego and it was great. This one was great as well. Ordered the I Am Happy, which is a spicy Korean pulled pork sandwich that wasn’t spicy. Although not spicy it has great flavor. I would definitely order again

Cafe Gratitude = classic - Edit
You must already know that Cafe Gratitude is a must. It’s the gold standard in LA.
Read moreThe ice cream (made in-house possibly?) was so so good. The Caesar salad (without capers!) was sooo satisfying - big portion for a half!

My friends first vegan experience and he loved it! - Edit
I had the original and glorious and one was better than the other! Both were amazing and were good enough for my non vegan friend to become a vegan believer! Now I just have to take him to some more places like Never Caged for some Hot chick’n sandos to fully convert him! Hahah

Their menu is so excellent, but my go to is always the Mucho bowl with the chicken fried mushrooms and extra mushroom carnitas 💚 They also do a gingerbread latte that is out of this world x

Upscale dining, but feels down to earth - Edit
I love the atmosphere. The staff go above and beyond and ask as a daily question about gratitude. The nachos are delicious and the Caesar salad is A . A little pricey, but you pay for quality and the experience. Definitely recommend to vegans and non-vegans alike.

Just OK - Edit
I came with a group from work for happy hour around 4:30pm. We sat outside and while it was a bit chilly they had heaters and pulled down the shades so it was very comfortable. We all ordered various drinks and 4 plates of appetizers. I ordered the light hearted which is essentially fancier sparkling water :p Everyone else ordered coffees of cocktails yet their drinks all came out first. Mine never did and I ended up having to ask for it twice. Once I received it I did enjoy it! Another person in my group also had to ask for their drink. One of the appetizers we ordered was fried pickles. It tasted like zucchini. Or maybe they fried a cucumber and forgot to pickle it but they were terrible. Bland, no seasoning, etc. but the vegan dip was delicious! We also ordered nacho fries and they were pretty good. Our server was very sweet and attentive. However, based on this experience I'm not sure if I would want to go back.

more hype, too expensive - Edit
i had high expectations for this place giving its reputation but i’ve been twice now and each time the food is just ok. too expensive for small portion sides. not that much flavor or creative ingredient combinations. veggie bowl and smoothie bowl both were $16 each and neither were filling. i do appreciate they have a separate menu for allergies and the service is good.

Authentically classy, clean and healthy. - Edit
Every time I go, I am surprised all over again at how clean, delicious and genuine this place is. It’s expensive but every time I go, I remember it’s one of my favorite vegan spots in LA. The salads make a plant based eater blissed - kale ceasar and seaweed kale are my favorites! Raw pesto kelp noodles and raw lasagna for us living food folk. Macro flair to everything else. And the desserts are really something else. Love the wellness shots as appetite stimulants before the meal. Set in lovely Larchmont. Staff is always cool af and down-to-Earth city-style.

I love cafe gratitude, from the ambience to the service and the food. Just be prepared to wait because there is usually a wait if you come on the weekends, can’t say for the weekdays because I have never been. The food and ambience is worth the wait. Guess I’m just a sucker for hipster looking places along with good vegan food, but I’m sure a lot of people can agree with me on that :)
