Enjoyable experience but a bit overpriced

Cafe Ginger is a bit of a concept of its own. There is a daily menu with limited choice. The food was delicious, varied and healthy. Everything is organic and the vegetable choice seemed seasonal. We got a plate with several small salads and a leek quiche.

The staff was friendly but we did have to wait for quite some time to get service and for our food. We were not that happy with the drinks. They only serve two types of wine, which I personally didn't like. The coffee I got afterwards was cold and not up to standards.

Apart from the drinks, I did really enjoy the food. We paid €16,50 for the main dish, which is a little overpriced for what it was.

Pros: Variety, Friendly staff, Cozy atmosphere

Cons: Coffee, Wine, Price

Good but basic

It is a nice small place to have either lunch or diner in the Bastille area of Paris, easy to find.
There is not a big variety of options and the meals are very basic. Carrots, coles etc.
I think the prices are rather high (16,50 for a main dish) for the basic food you get. It is healthy though and the ambiance is good.
I saw in another review that there was no alcohol, when we were there, there was beer and wine which was positive.

Pros: Very healthy, Nice little place , Central location

Cons: Often full , High price for simple food

lovely, delicious, healthy treat

I had an awesome lunch at ginger cafe. The main dish was super delicious and healthy, with so many different small portions of salads, dips, etc, just how I love it. For dessert we tried two cakes and especially the raw carrot cake was awesome. The place is very cute and cozy. Reservation recommended.

Pros: healthy, yummy

good, not exceptional

Popular but small vegan restaurant convenient to the Bastille. Reasonably priced food that was good. For lunch you order a choice of quiche/pie and it automatically comes with a variety of different sides/salads, some of which are better than others. Overall I was happy with my meal. Go on the earlier side or make a reservation.

Pros: all vegan, good food that's pretty healthful, lots of different vegetables

Cons: limited choices, automatic variety of sides , crowded

You MUST book

We found this eatery on Happy Cow and I never checked the reviews first. Big mistake.
It's not a big place and it's SUPER busy. We arrived and were told they were fully booked. We asked if we could come back and they managed to squeeze us in a few hours later.
We paid €18 per head for a plate of food and a desert which is not bad. The main meal is a tart with about 7 different salads.
They don't offer alcohol. Sigh!
Will definitely go back.

Pros: Good value, Good portions, Vegan food only

Cons: No alcohol, Can't just pop in

Refreshing vegan cafe - great for lunch

We visited for lunch. The small menu is made up for by the high quality tasty food you will find here. Choices include 2 soups, 3 tart options with salad, and cold rolls with salad. There are also a number of desserts on offer and fresh juices. We tried one of the tarts (Kale, Brocolli & Potatoe) and the cold roll with salads option - both were fresh and tasty - the accompanying salads (which included three different pates) were not the standard boring versions you seem to get in Paris. All the staff were friendly, particularly the owner (an English man who speak fluent French) who took the time to explain the menu options to us, and even offered some other suggestions for vegan eating in Paris. Atmosphere is really pleasant - nice and bright, and surprising quite given its closeness to Place de Bastille. A lovely little vegan oasis for a lunch break - would highly recommend.

Pros: Fresh and tasty, Friendly staff, Relaxing atmosphere

Best meal we've had in Paris!

We read about this restaurant on Happy Cow and went there twice only to find it closed (once was a holiday and another time we went too late in the afternoon).
Third time was lucky.
The meal was sensational.
Choice of three mains with the best array of vegetables and pates/sauces.
All vegan and organic. Staff were lovely and welcoming.
Nothing was too much trouble and great English.
Mains were €13.50. Option to include a freshly made juice (total €18.00) or have the main, juice plus desset for €22.
I had the spring roll which was fantastic. My husband had the ratatouille pie which he enjoyed. Th juice (carrot, apple & ginger) was wonderful.
And my husband had the chocolate terrine which I stole a teaspoon of.....heaven.
Go there....you won't regret it.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly relaxed staff, Great quality in every way

Parfait parfait parfait !

I think this is my favorite Vegan restaurant so far. I didn't try so much of them, but it will remain on the top of the top for a while...
The girls are just lovely, super friendly and give very good advices. Their food is just so fresh and you got many little things in your plate that make you taste a lot of different savors. I got a pie that was just perfect in the proportions and the seasoning. All was super tasty !
The dessert was also succulent and the homemade juice was very well balanced.
I expected that to be quite expensive (the area, it's vegan, organic) but it was actually quite cheap for such a quality. It's cooked with hearts full of generosity !

Keep on girls! I just can't wait to try Café Ginger in winter !

An advice : you should book before !

Pros: Super friendly & efficient staff, The food is super fresh and tasty, Everything is vegan & organic

Small and cosy

This little vegan café was a great find thanks to a recommendation. Tucked down a side street it has pavement seating as well as tables inside. It was busy and we had to share a table which wasn't a problem. The staff were friendly and the man that served us was English. My husband speaks French but it saves him translating for us! The food was really tasty and very generous. I couldn't eat it all! Between us we had the spring roll and one of each of the two flans that were on offer that day. All of these were served with salads. The desserts were tasty too. Great that this is completely vegan and we will definitely go back next time we are in Paris.

Pros: Completely Vegan, Generous portions, Friendly staff

Cons: Small so gets busy

Excellent vegan cafe

Cafe Ginger was one of the best places I visited during my trip to Paris. It's quite small and extremely popular (deservedly so), so it's worth booking ahead - we did so via their Facebook page. Despite how busy it was, the service was fast and friendly, with the waitress explaining all our options in English.
There are 2 tarts every day, or the choice of a salad plate. I tried the leek and asparagus tart, while my partner had the pumpkin and mushroom one. Both were delicious, and were served on the most colourful, fresh and tempting plate of salad and sides. Everything was so beautifully seasoned and prepared, it was a real treat.
To balance out the healthiness, of course we had some desserts as well. The cheesecake was the best I've ever had, and the chocolate terrine was rich and delicious too.
If I go back to Paris, I'll definitely visit again!

Pros: Colourful, tasty food, Excellent service, Fresh ingredients

One of our favorite meals in Paris

We absolutely loved this tiny cafe located near the Bastille. Definitely call to make a reservation for lunch or dinner as seating is very very limited. Also, one thing we noticed is that vegan restaurants in Paris have very strange hours and days they are open. They might randomly be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We went for dinner and they have a set menu for 25 euros per person. You are treated to a healthy and scrumptious vegan meal that starts with a choice of a hot soup or we could select a specialty drink. We had the soup which was wonderful on a cold rainy night. Then you are served a plate filled with a variety of delicious dishes from polenta, tapanades, quinoa salads etc.. and also a wonderful homemade tart (came in three flavors that you can select). And, you top it all off with a dessert selection. We are huge eaters and were worried that we would leave hungry but the portion is really sufficient. We felt completely satisfied without feeling stuffed. We would have gone again but they were closed the last day we were in Paris. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We had a cheerful waitress who spoke excellent English while I fumbled through my French.

Pros: delicious healthy food, friendly staff, feels like a local spot

Cons: very small so make reservation, closed a few days a week

Cosy little place, good for lunch

Café Ginger is the type of place I would visit again but not necessarily a place I would rave about. There is limited seating so booking is essential unless you visit at a random time. The menu choice, when I went, had just two options available, which both seemed appealing to me. The potions were generous and the price wasn't bad considering this little café is in the heart of Bastille. If you're looking for a large choice of food then maybe head elsewhere, but if you want fresh good vegetarian food then this place will work.

Pros: Fresh food, Friendly staff, Portion sizes

Cons: Menu choice, Limited seating

Tartlets! Plats du Jour! Vegan Parisian dining!

We ate here twice while we were in Paris last January. Each time the plats du jour were amazing. This is one of the healthiest meals I've eaten out with an incredible variety and yet all of the cuteness of a Parisian assiette du jour. You get to choose one of four savory tarts, and this is served with a gorgeous rainbow of mini salads and sides. Everything was delicious from the chutney to the most obscure mystery salad. The owners are friendly, and the desserts are tiny, but worth the splurge if you have the money. This isn't a huge meal, it's a Parisian sized meal. That means you will be full but not over-full, but the gorgeous food will keep you coming back for more! Oh these tarts, they were the best part!

Pros: friendly staff, local vegan hangout, savory tarts!!!

Good and healthy vegan food in a little café

This little café was a good surprise when I went there for lunch. The place is really cute and the owner is very friendly. I had a full meal with a delicious soup with seven vegetables, a complete dish that consists of a great pumpkin-mushroom pie, basmati rice and different vegetables and salads and a chocolate cake nicely presented. The food was healthy and of good quality, with nice tastes. The menu is not huge and they have 2 or 3 options a day. Don't hesitate to go there for lunch!

Pros: good and fresh food, healthy, friendly staff, cute place, location

Cons: small area, little menu

Had to taste all the desserts

We took three desserts because they were all so special and rare to find. The chocolate terrine was absolutely French, you can't get it elsewhere! They indeed used ginger in many dishes, in a very innovative way.

Lovely coffee cups, free WiFi, super nice staff. One of the nicest places I have ever been to. Don't miss Cafe Ginger if you go to Paris.

Pros: Great desserts, Great other food, WiFi

Great Vegan Food and Environment

I visited here on a Saturday afternoon. The place was busy and we had to wait a short while for a seat but the staff were friendly and helpful, talking us through the menu as we were waiting.

The food was fantastic. You get a set menu with a choice of a tart with tasters of salad. You can also have a soup and dessert. I opted for the 3 course meal and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was really fresh and tasty and was real high quality vegan cuisine.

I would recommend Cafe Ginger to anyone in Paris.

Pros: Food quality, Service, Location

Cons: Maybe a bit small but that's Paris!

Lovely little place!

I visited here at lunch time on a weekend trip to Paris. It was so nice. I ordered three courses for €20.00, which is extremely good value for Bastille. I had soup, Asparagus tart that was served with a little tasting of 5 different salads. Being someone who likes variety I thought this was a great way to serve, instead of just loading up with one huge salad!
I had the Vegan Tiramisu which was superb.
The staff were friendly and the owner even recommended a vegan bakery for us to try!
The place is very small, but it is the Centre of Paris and in order to grow they need all the support they can get. To ensure you get a seat i'd reccommend to book before hand.

Pros: Location, All Vegan , Staff

Cons: Small

We had dinner here, and it was great. Lovely staff, delicious food obviously made with love, reasonably priced (22 euro for a menu) and the restaurant looks really nice. It's recommended making a reservation, at lunch time as well.

Love it here

I always bring my friends here, even if they're not veg. I really love their juices and desert. I consider it to have the best cost-benefit of all veg restaurants in Paris.
And, it's the only veg place you can eat at 4pm in Paris.

Pros: Price, Location, Juices

Cons: It's in Paris

Simple, good and healthy

My partner and I went here a couple of times because it was close to where we were staying. The second time I decided to go because I was sick and needed healthy food like fresh juice and soup. This place has health and freshness as a focus, which means in general you have to book or at least turn up early, because everything is made just before lunch, and it runs out because they only make enough so that it doesn't waste. We discovered this the hard way. Lunch consists of a vegan tart - one of about four options - plus a number of small separate portions of salad components. The tarts are quite delicious and the salads are OK in a 'healthy' kind of way. Additionally you can buy juice, soup and dessert. In my experience the juice was pretty good, but on the occasion I was nursing my sickness with their soup, I must say it was a tad watery and not overly tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the enthusiasm and the ethos of the place scores them points with me. I imagine I would go regularly for lunch if I lived in Paris.

Pros: Food made fresh and not wasted, Tarts are interesting and yummy, Friendly, helpful staff

Cons: Soup a bit watery and tasteless, Food runs out quick (flipside of Pro #1)

Cute and cozy

I was exited to go and visit this place, especially after all the reviews that I have read, and I am still to be impressed by a vegan meal in Paris.
The place is very cozy and the location is great. Classic cozy atmosphere, which is typical for small restaurants in Paris.
I have to say that my first impression was of the staff not being very hospitable. I know that I'm in Paris and the service is not as the one in the States, and once we sat down I found out that they are very nice people, but still they seemed so out of it because they were so busy, it was obvious that they could barely handle it.
Unfortunately half of the lunch options were unavailable by the time we sat down, which is fine, because I'm open to try whatever they can make. Once we ordered the food came in very fast and I have to admit that it was delicious! Even though simple, all the dishes were well balanced and very flavorful. I still remember the gratin and the dessert had a nice home-made feel.
I will keep searching for the best vegan meal in Paris, but I am also definitely willing to give Ginger another try

Pros: Food, Inexpensive, Location

Cons: Busy, Staff a bit lost

I love all the variety you get on one plate and that there are gluten free options! My favorite tarte is the sweet potato one!!
