Outside (and inside) seating. Great ocean views. Watch out for sea gulls stealing food!

I came in here when I got back from swimming with the dolphins (amazing!) because I had noticed earlier that they had a few vegan items listed on their menu outside. I was surprised to find that in addition to their menu, they had a number of items in their prepared food case that also were vegan, and their soup of the day (potato leek) was, which is what I ordered. It was delicious, and in addition the server not only double-checked with the kitchen to be sure it was vegan but also thought to include some dairy-free butter on the side for the bread that accompanied the soup. Delicious food, thoughtful and attentive employee, and a nice atmosphere; this place was quite a nice surprise find for me in Kaikoura!
