Lively café serving all vegan sandwiches, soups, pastries, desserts, hot and cold drinks. Menu rotates daily. Good music and ambiance with Wi-Fi. Reported closed by owner April 2014.
After not being careful enough to check the actual opening hours the first times we went there and found the place closed, my boyfriend and I went there yesterday for dinner.
The waiter was friendly, professional and made us both feel very welcome.
I ate quiche with spinach, my boyfriend had a bean burger sandwich - and it was delicious. I had a soy mocha(you can choose between soy and almond) that was perfect, even with the not-so-tasty Brazilian chocolate, and for the dessert we shared a piece of a coconut cake that was to die for. They even have vegan Pão de Queijo(cheesebread) - also delicious.
All of it for a reasonable prize. We're going back tomorrow.
Cafe Corbucci is the first 100% vegan place in Brasilia.
That said, I really wanted it to be my favorite place in town, but that's not the case.
I've been to Corbucci a lot of times and I can say that, at least 90% of them, I left it disappointed.
They are always running out of the main courses of the day, a lot of dishes without seasoning, lazy staff, etc. And always paying a high price for this.
The last time I went there I had to return my empanadas (pastel, in portuguesse) 4 times, 'cause they couldn't make it hot and it was frozen inside.
If you still want to go to Corbucci (you can get lucky), I would recommend the tempeh burguer.
I don't mind paying a lot of money to food, but the reward must be equivalent.
After spending more than a week in Brazil, and struggling with the language in order to find decent vegan food, I sought out to find this restaurant the day I arrived in Brazil. One word. Amazing. The staff were very friendly. It was my waiters first day on the job but he spoke very good English. I was able to determine what most of the items on the menu were but it didn't matter to me. The menu is 100% vegan so I was in my glory. I had an appetizer (hard to explain; kinda like a bread roll with stuffing inside). I had a seitan sandwich with some salad (great presentation too). I had an orange juice with mint. And for dessert I had a slice of an apple pie with fruit in it. It was nice having a decent meal for once. Brazil is not a vegan friendly country, especially when travelling alone and not speaking the language. This place made me enjoy the city of Brasilia that much better!
We made it to Cafe Corbucci on the 3rd and last day of our visit to Brasilia. On Sunday, we tried 2 of the other restaurants, on Monday, Cafe Corbucci is closed. What a relief it turned out to be . After 9 days of traveling in Brazil and eating mainly the buffet lunches, we were really fed up. Mariana, the owner of Cafe COrbucci greeted us warmly in English (that itself was a blessing!), explained every item on the limited menu, gave us a short story of how Cafe Corbucci came about (Corbucci is her last name), and shared many other experiences. She also gave us many tips about vegan dining in Brazil, and in particular recommended some restaurants in our next stop Rio.
Cafe Corbucci is also a blessing becaus it is the only vegetarian restaurant in Brasilia that is open in the evenings, and Mariana is quite proud of this, as she should be. We had the kofte, the soup of the day (tomato), and dumpling like empanadas that were fried and come in 4 different fillings. We truly indulged in the fried stuff, and it was truly heaven. The fresh juices were large servings and came with ginger or other add ons. The desserts sounded nice, but we did not have any more space.
Hats off to Mariana for Cafe Corbucci and I hope she thrives with this beautiful cafe.
