Es gibt viele unterschiedliche vegane Mäglichkeiten. Wir hatten das rustikale Brot mit Hummus und die „Extrawurst“.

Sehr süßes Café mit netter Bedienung. Wir haben das Frühstück sehr genossen. Die veganen Croissants waren sehr gut! Alle Zutaten hatten eine sehr gute Qualität. Wir kommen sicher wieder!

The cafe on the east side of the downtown island is nicely decorated with wooden furniture. We had burgers with really crusty bread. There was also ice cream. The waiter was nice and joked with us, but we started the jokes. It's nice that humans are still serving you and not robots.

Good food but... the service - Edit
We've been several times to Affenbrot as we live in Lübeck. The owner (?) is sometimes a bit grumpy and not that customer orientated (especially one day when I asked for tap water...) .
Read moreBUT one day we hat two small slugs in the salad on two seperate plates. One slug might happen, but two? I showed the first one to the waiter and he only joked that it's a sign of freshness. He didn't really care about the second one either. One of us still had some salat on the plate and didn't want to eat any more in fear that it has slugs in it. In the end we didn't get any discount or or even hear a real "sorry". It just felt like it's not a big thing to have slugs in the salad.😒
The wedges and currywurst are great, as they are served with a nice salad. The burgers are a bit too tall to eat and a bit too dry. The soups are quite good.

am ersten Abend wurden wir eher unfreundlich abgewiesen, kein Platz mehr da, am zweiten Abend (diesmal mit Reservierung) haben wir über 45 Minuten auf das Essen gewartet, dann wurde uns das falsche Gericht gebracht, eine Korrektur hätte nochmal 20 Minuten in Anspruch genommen...

When in Lübeck we always visit this wonderful café. Nice staff, all veggie food, many vegan options, seasonal …I give only 3 because it’s more comfort food and not too exquisite. It’s a total recommendation though! Go visit this café.

Wir kamen zum Frühstück ins Cafe Affenbrot, wobei es zu empfehlen ist, vorab zu reservieren. Beim veganen Frühstück sind ein Brötchen und eine Scheibe Brot dabei, sowie veganer Käse und diverse Aufstriche. Meiner Meinung nach hätte die Hummus Portion etwas kleiner sein können, damit das Verhältnis zwischen Aufstrich und Brot etwas ausgewogener ist. Natürlich will man hier eine gewisse Auswahl anbieten, aber ich werfe halt ungern Essen weg, weshalb mich das etwas gestört hat. Ansonsten war aber alles Prima!

Read moreCame here today and enjoyed the Grünkernburger-Menü (spelt burger with potato wedges and salad) plus "Vöner on a plate" (a deconstructed vegan döner, i.e. flat bread, salad and shredded vegan seitan). Both freshly fried and cooked, a huge portion - good value for money!
Service was friendly and helpful. Venue is a bit away from Lübeck's centre, but definitely worth trekking too. Experience was so good I would suggest going to Lübeck for this vegan experience.

Old-school german vegetarian cafe - Edit
You can tell that this place has been around for some years; the interior and offering are very German 80's vegetarian style. Sometimes, these places are not great for vegan food, but cafe Affenbrot is quite okay: Coffee comes with a vegan cookie and about a quarter of the dishes are vegan. The prices looked very high though (11 EUR for a Doner) so we just had coffee and cake on the nice outside seating area.

Also bestellt... Was dann ankam sah wirklich sehr gut aus, eine schön vollgepackte Dönertasche alla Maulsperre. Die Enttäuschung dann, als ich sie in der Hand hatte.... Alles voller Gemüse (ess ich sehr gerne, aber hier geht's um Döner) und nur der Boden dünn belegt... Wenn ich schätzen müsste max. 100g Saitan... Geschmeckt hat er trotzdem, aber Preis/Leistung eine glatte 6. ... Und Hunger habe ich immer noch!
