good but expensive - Edit

Their menu os rather small, but their food is delicious, especially their mac and cheese!
The prices are very high though. $10 or more for a salad or sandwich with no sides. Seating is pretty hard to get if you go during a busy time. I like this place, but wouldn't go regularly as the prices are a little too high for me.

Pros: great food mac and cheese

Cons: expensive limited seating

Not a lot of bang for your buck - Edit

My boyfriend and I were in NYC for the weekend and decided to try By Chloe because it was only a few blocks from our hotel and it was open early enough for us to get a meal before an afternoon event at Madison Square Garden. I had high hopes going in, but they were sadly dashed. While the place is bright and friendly, with ample seating, the food is overpriced, even for NYC. I mean, $12 for a seitan sandwich that comes with no sides is a bit much, even if it was tasty. And $4.25 for a pile of "air-baked" fries that were soft and almost soggy is ridiculous. I've had air-baked fries before, and they're pretty good. My boyfriend got one of the breakfast platters and enjoyed it, but the food seemed crammed in the to-go container, and the portions seemed small.

Furthermore, if I'm paying that much for food, you can have someone run it to the table instead of me having to wait at the counter, where a bunch of people are trying to order their food. As another reviewer points out, it really is (overpriced) vegan fast food.

Pros: All vegan, Friendly, Open early on weekends

Cons: Terrible fries, overpriced

Not quite what we hoped for - Edit

This place basically is a vegan fast food restaurant. It only takes them 5 mins to prepare your food. Unfortunately, the quality of the food wasn't what we had hoped for. The air baked sweet potato fries were kinda fluffy and far from that nice and crunchy bite I'm looking for. Classic burger was a tad boring and small portioned. Meat ball sandwich was more interesting, with portobello in the balls. However, also a pretty small portion and taste not remarkable.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is what you might expect from a fast food restaurant, just with a bunch of vegans in it :-)

Pros: Fast service

Cons: Burger and fries not too tasty, Small portions

breakfast--NOM! - Edit

Breakfast - sunrise breakfast burrito was scrumptious! I also had the "Hostess" cupcake. Yum!!
My non-vegan daughters ate bakery items - old fashioned chocolate chip cookie and raspberry tiramisu cupcake. They loved it!
Hoping I have time later to go back for dinner.

Pros: deliciousness!

Delicious sandwich - Edit

I ordered the whiskey BBQ sandwich which was wonderful. The amount of tang was just right, the texture was excellent. It was yummy and well worth the cost.
The fries however were awful. They were supposed to be air fried but generally had no crispness and tasted like cold boiled potatoes. The cupcake was also good.
The restaurant is very small and has counter service which I like especially when running errands by myself. The service was good. T :) e wait for the food was not too long although the cramped space made it a little difficult to stay out of other people's way.

Pros: Excellent sandwiches, Fairly quick counter service, Lots of small tables, was able to sit down at noon

Cons: Limp fries, Cramped space

great but - Edit

I had a guac burger with the sweet potato fries. the burger was really good, but I think the sweet potato missed a bit in taste, but luckily the beet ketchup made them taste great. I was still hungry after the burger and fries which is why they only get 4 stars.

Good vegan spot - Edit

I had breakfast there, a big one with a smoothie bowl and an "Early Bird" (scramble tofu, salad, sausage, toast).
It was very good. I would go back for a lunch to taste their lunch option.
However I found it too expensive: 25 dollars for the two and a tea, it's a bit too much when it's not a sit-down restaurant.

Pros: Tasty, Lots of choices

Cons: Pricey

eat here now!!! - Edit

By Chloe offers so many delicious options that I didn't know what I was going to order until I reached the counter. Even now, I'm still dying to try pretty much every single item I didn't order. The southwest salad and fries were incredible, and the cupcake I grabbed to go on my way out was scrumptious. I've heard rumors that there is a ByChloe location opening in Boston soon, and I cannot WAIT to give it a try

old fashioned cookie - Edit

Vegan cookies are so common that it's rare one stands out as amazing, but the old fashioned chocolate chip cookie ranks among the best I've ever had--vegan or not.

Love it! - Edit

This is more of a "fast food" restaurant than a sit down one. Lines are long, but move quickly, and there are not a lot of tables. The burgers are fantastic (I love the guac burger), as are the fries. They have an assortment of salads and juices also.
We went in one morning early and they had "Chloestess Cupcakes" (a take-off on Hostess Cupcakes, but larger and a million times better). I understand that these sell out quickly,

Pros: Great food, Quick friendly service, Everything is vegan

Cons: Not always easy to find a seat, Wouldn't be good for groups

Eye pleasing - Edit

I know this is a great place to having a burger, although I visited it for a breakfast. And it did not fail! The tea, the bun with tofu and mushrooms was perfect, but what I did most was the raspberry tiramisu cupcake. Fully recommended.

Pros: Cupcakes, Affordable

Cons: Too much air conditioned

Amazing - Edit

This place definitely lives up to the hype. I'm a vegan but I went with four omnivores. I ordered The Classic Burger, Mac N' Cheese, a Purple Rain smoothie, and air baked sweet potato fries. Three of my friends got The Guac Burger and sweet potato fries. The other got the Pesto Meatball and sweet potato fries. We all loved our burgers/sandwiches. The sweet potato fries started out okay but they quickly got soggy. The smoothie was great. The mac n' cheese was the best vegan mac n' cheese I've ever had. Even my omnivore friends said it tasted really cheesy and creamy. I got it with the shiitake bacon on the side because I don't like mushrooms or fake meat, but my friends had some and said it was pretty good. Overall we were very pleased with our meal. I'd probably pass on the fries next time but everything else was so filling I didn't even need them. Oh and the sauces.. amazing. They come with a homemade beet ketchup and a chipotle aioli sauce which were both great. I absolutely hate beets but the ketchup didn't really taste like beets, just basically like a sweeter version of ketchup. We went on a Sunday at 1pm and the line wasn't too long, just have to fight for a seat. Definitely will be going back.

Pros: excellent food, quick walk from penn station, all vegan

Cons: seating, sometimes a long line, fries were soggy

Great 2nd location! - Edit

Love the 2nd location of By Chloe is NYC. Although this one often has long lines, much like the W. Village one, the lines seem to move faster and are more organized. If you would like to skip the lines, go at 8AM on a weekday for delicious breakfast! The food is great, highly recommend the classic burger, fries, and old fashion chocolate chip cookies!

Pros: Breakfast, Desserts

Cons: Lines, Trouble finding a table at times
