Karaoke and Options - Edit
To be honest, the pho tasted more like salt to me than anything else. But! The staff are fun, and I had a blast singing.

Love everything - Edit
They make everything from scratch, so when they say something is vegan, they know it actually is vegan. Very accommodating. Has it's own vegan menu. Since everything is made completely from scratch (even the hoison sauce), the dishes have a unique flavor, rather than tasting like the usual curry pastes, etc.
Read moreThere is Vegan Pho. There are many vegan appetizers. I plan to try the Thai Iced Tea now that I realized they will make it with coconut milk, similarly with other drinks that usually contain cow's milk.
The atmosphere is fun. I am not interested in karaoke, but this place makes it more entertaining and cute than normal.
The server is very nice. He plays the guitar sometimes.
I've spent fewer than two weeks in Portland, but I have eaten at Butterfly Belly several times.
Pros: Vegan menu, Unique flavors, Very good

Delightful food, fun silly atmosphere - Edit
This was a delightful experience from start to finish. We arrived at maybe 6:15, our waiter (the owner) was funny and helpful in comparing the options and provided a vegan menu (don't worry, things like the egg roll don't actually have egg). I got the vegan Hue soup which was delicious, and also really liked the tofu egg rolls. And as we were almost done, even though it was a Monday night at about 7:20 p.m. the waiter asked if any of us wanted to sing karaoke, which we did. No one in the restaurant sang other than our small group and the waiter. At one point the waiter took a break from serving to sing a duet with me and then do another song himself (a few people were waiting for their credit cards and may have been slightly miffed). Overall it was great food and a great atmosphere. But if you are looking for an efficient, no-nonsense restaurant, this is definitely not the place for you. This is a silly, plenty-nonsense restaurant with great food worth the wait.

Food was pretty good, service awful - Edit
So I was really craving pho and was pleasantly surprised to find a Vietnamese place with good vegan options. We ordered the garden pho, egg rolls, and lemongrass vermicelli. Everything was pretty tasty, but I can't give this place a great review because we waited soooo long and others were served before us. Mind you it was a Monday night and the restaurant was half full. Maybe order take out?

Fantastic Pho - Edit
I came here not feeling super well, I was still able to enjoy the truly great vegan Pho, upgraded to 50 oz for 3$. The live music might have been a little too much for me today. Still, a great restaurant in a convenient location.
Read more(I disagree with the practice of not being able to give five stars to this restaurant. While being very convinced of veganism myself, I think this judgement of people who eat meat and the isolation of meat-free restaurant holds back our movement and, by that, leads to more animal suffering.)
Pros: Just great pho, Decent prizing

I echo the previous reviews. The pho was incredible and you can customize it to your liking. Extra veggies, no problem. Extra noodles, no problem. Extra spicy, no problem.
Read moreI recommend a reservation because the place is small. It is worth the wait.
The staff were friendly, funny, and helpful.
Bonus: the kitchen is all gluten free. House made hoisin sauce!
Check their hours. They mentioned being short staffed and that impacting their hours in the future.
Pros: Can customize your pho to your preference., Staff

Great vegan Pho - Edit
This is a great Asian restaurant that has its own dedicated vegan menu. Min ( the charismatic owner) promised my wife that it has never been touched greasy meat eater fingers lol.

Deserves 5 Stars. - Edit
Seriously the best Pho I’ve ever had in my life. And I’ve eaten a lot of Pho. The service is amazing, very nice family owned business. A full vegan/veg menu and the restaurant is completely GF.

They have a vegan/vegetarian menu that is extensive. The whole restaurant is gf as well. The vegan pho is phenomenal! The broth was so so good! We also had egg rolls- yummy and spring rolls which I think they called salad rolls. Also delicious.

Great choices - Edit
Although this place is known for its 48-hr bone broth (and all gluten-free menu), it does have a very large vegan section in their menu. Plus, the service was extremely friendly and fun. I had a vegan tofu, veggie, vermicelli, bowl with egg rolls. Those eggrolls or not to be missed… handmade and very tasty!

Vegan Options! - Edit
I decided to try Butterfly Belly yesterday in the midst of Portland's winter storm because of the vegan-friendly reviews as well as the fact delivery via Caviar was available. I've been enjoying Pho for about a year now, & Butterfly Belly's two options (the Garden Pho & the Spicy Garden Pho) were the most flavorful & most substantial in terms of vegetables & accompaniments that I've had. I prefer the Spicy Garden simply because I like a bit of heat, but the variety of flavors in the Garden (I've never had a on-the-sweet-side Pho that wasn't one-note flavor-wise) were excellent as well. The portions are two-meal sized & neither vegan option costs over $10. I look forward to more experiences with Butterfly Belly.
