Delightful Delicious - Edit
Staying around the corner on a Richmond layover, I discovered Buna Kurs cafe. Nice people and delicious food in a quiet sunlit setting a few blocks off Broad street. I had the Lala Shiro for lunch with a cup of Ethiopian coffee. The lala shiro was served on injera bread and came with a tomato salad featuring jalapeño strips to add a little spice. Just the right about of food for lunch and every bite was delicious. I’ll be back.

Great lil cafe - Edit
Smaller place but still plenty of seating. Serves breakfast and lunch so not the full “veggie platter” type option I normally get at Ethiopian places but still a great menu that is already mostly vegan and it allowed me to try a couple new dishes I wouldn’t have otherwise ordered.
Read moreThe sambusas were fantastic! Crisp outside and absolutely stuffed with tasty lentils 🤤
Injera fir fir was delicious as well, if I wasn’t by myself I would have also gotten one of the sides like chickpea or bean salad to use the extra injera to eat with but it was great on its own. The drinks can be made with oat or almond milk

Vegan-Friendly Ethiopian Restaurant - Edit
Almost everything on the menu is vegan, despite not being labeled. The patient woman working there walked me through all of the options while I marked my menu.
Read moreI did realize that the Chehebsa has honey in it - after the fact. It was my favorite part of the breakfast combo. I’m going to ask if they can use agave nectar for the vegan option in the future.
I love Ethiopian food and it’s nice to find a place that doesn’t use ghee. They even use vegan mayo!
I had the Sambusa the first time I went. I’ll get that again once I work my way through the menu.

Absolutely worth a stop! - Edit
My first time trying Ethiopian food was here and it’s so good! A solid proportion of menu already is, or can be made vegan on request, and vegan options are clearly labeled. If you’re strict about honey, I would ask/specify, though. Very good coffee as well!
