Greasy and disappointing - Edit
I ordered their fried rice speciality brotinha, which was OK but greasy and overpriced, took ages to arrive, and had a completely different filling to what I requested. I also ordered their little potato chips, which were swimming in grease and a revolting sour cream substitute, I ate barely half as despite being a lover of bad fatty foods I couldn't eat anything that greasy. The place also sells products that are clearly not vegetarian such as M&Ms, so it makes me wonder whether they know what they're doing anyway. Immensely disappointing, I won't be going back.

Great atmosphere - Edit
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place, I was there during carnival and everyone (including the staff) was in the mood to party despite the fact it was pouring with rain! It felt like more of a bar (and shoe shop!) than a restaurant, but that might have been down to the carnival.
Read moreI visited twice and both times I ordered the oriental noodles, which were a bit salty but really tasty. It was a small portion, perfect for a light dinner or a snack while drinking, but maybe a little pricey for what it was.
Pros: Great atmosphere, Cool place, Nice food
Cons: Small portions

Tasty, fast, casual - Edit
They have the BEST AÇAÍ period. The food is decent, sometimes a bit dry, sometimes a bit too greasy but overall it’s good, when you want to have a quick bite with your beer. The staff is friendly if you get to know them.
Read moreAlso their kitchen closes at midnight on at least Thursday thru Saturday. Other days I think 11pm, the hours are totally incorrect here.
Pros: Lots of veg options , Cute clothes, BEST AÇAÍ

It was alright - Edit
I got the vegan nachos delivery and I was dissapointed it was just chips essentially. I got a small container or beans, salsa, and vegan sour cream. Tastes good just wasn’t enough topping and was quite greasy.

This is a small order at the counter place with delicious beach/street food and outside stool seating. Yes, it’s greasy, yes, it’s not good for you, but that’s what it’s supposed to be! It’s a 10-15 min walk from both Copacabana or Ipanema beach. Chill atmosphere with rly friendly staff and it’s a great place to see the ppl and city go abt their business. Brota has an extensive alcohol list as well. The Mojito was v good!
I went with my family of five: 4 vegan adults and 1 vegetarian child. We ordered every Brotinha (fried rice cake) to try; the hummus cake, the bean, and the broccoli were the favs. My 10yo niece is picky and she loves the hummus cake. I’m not a fan of wasabi or pesto, but both the wasabi and tomato & pesto cakes were v good.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Outside seating to see the city, (Some) English speaking servers
Cons: Took a while for some items

Really cool place - Edit
Cool places, with a chill vibe, the food is good, and they have nice beer selection (for the size of the place) with some really good Brazilian beers.

More of these please - Edit
Brota is part of the VOID shop and they share the location. Most things on their menu are vegan and extremely delicious.
Read moreThe fried rice cakes, called brotinhas, are to die for, great combinations and super filling.
The sour cream they offer on various dishes is made with silken tofu, so also vegan.
Staff were absolutely lovely.
For sure the best place if you ever need to grab a quick bite in between Copacabana and Ipanema beach.

Tasty food at decent price - Edit
Enjoyed the food here - they have a decent range of options, all fairly priced. More of a lunch/takeaway type place with a few seats outside rather than a restaurant. Friendly staff. Served us well as it was just across from our hostel!
