Met onze jarige zoon en zijn bestie een viergangenmenu gegeten. We waren blij dat er een restaurant bestond waar het helemaal geen struggle was om lekker vegan te eten: alles is vegan. En erg lekker!

This is one of the best restaurants in Utrecht. It is very good, but it’s not great. I tried the 5 course seasonal menu and 3 out of the 5 were delicious. One was mediocre and one was with overcooked buckweat (yes, it was a risotto but still..). Very friendly staff and cozy atmosphere.

A Summer must-visit - Edit
I went here for lunch today and had an amazing experience. The waiter was very kind and immediately brought out a water bowl for Saar🦮. The kitchen still made me pancakes even though it was already past noon. My sister got the oyster mushroom kroketten without mayo. Both were very good, the pancakes might’ve been the best I’ve had. We also loved the rose lemonade and dirty chai, but it would’ve been nice to have more plantbased milk options. I am not completely sure why the recently opened location in Amersfoort has a bigger menu though as the one in Utrecht has limited options. The furniture and decoration are pretty and unique and the outdoor seating space is also very cosy even though it is adjacent to the street. I would definitely recommend going here for lunch this summer if you’re looking for chill vibes and nice food.

Really tasty food. Broei is a great place to have lunch, a couple of drinks or dinner. Very good atmosphere and nice staff. Highly recommended when you're visiting Utrecht.

Nice place to go and have an easy lunch, but that’s it. It’s not like you can compare it to Kasvio or The Nieuwe Winkel. I had the croquettes with bread and a cappuccino.

Hebben hier goed geluncht. Kwaliteit van het eten is goed en ze hebben leuke gerechten op de kaart staan. Ik had de shakshuka. Was erg lekker maar portie had iets groter gekund. Aardig personeel alleen jammer dat ze nadat het eten geserveerd was ons niet meer zagen zitten. Het was wel druk maar was fijn geweest als iemand nog even langs was geweest voor nog een rondje drinken. Gevraagd om de rekening maar die vergat men ook. Anders was het perfect geweest.

Lekker geluncht in een sfeervolle omgeving. Ruim terras en ook binnen genoeg zitplaatsen. We hadden gereserveerd om zeker te zijn van een plekje. Genoeg keuze op de menukaart. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

Broei zit op een leuke plek met uitzicht over het water. We konden kiezen tussen het terras of binnen bij de opengeslagen deur. Ik heb er een heerlijk tijd doorgebracht en genoten van koffie, lunch en vriendelijke mensen. De lunch was goed van smaak en vullend. De bitterballen van paddestoelen die we erbij hadden waren ook verrukkelijk. Prijs/kwaliteit vond ik prima. Het duurde vrij lang voor het eten kwam, daar waren we van te voren over ingelicht. Voor ons niet erg. Parkeren in de buurt is helaas wel erg duur.

I ordered pancakes, which includes fresh fruit, spiced syrup, pecans, and coconut cream. I expected traditional Dutch pancakes, but they were fluffy like American pancakes. I enjoyed them, but I wanted to try the Dutch variety. The pecans were difficult to eat since they were crushed. There were also pecans in the cinnamon bun, which was delicious.

All dishes sounded creative, I liked the concept of them, but the flavours sometimes lacked depth and were not very surprising. Some veggies were not prepared appropriately, i.e. very chewy overcooked pak choi and hard undercooked mushroom stem.

The dinner is definitely the highlight of Broei. We had a wonderful evening here and three courses were not that expensive with 32,50€.

here you are spoilt for choice! really great options for lunch - I had the "egg salad" sandwich which came with oyster mushroom "bacon" which was absolutely delicious. my friend had the tofu shakshuka and really enjoyed it too - also with the option to get a small soup for start for only €3 more, which was a sauerkraut soup which they made completely in-house, including the fermentation! they also make their own kombucha. the atmosphere in the restaurant is really nice, the service is fast and the wait staff are really kind. I would recommend this place very highly!
