Good, make reservations, portions small. - Edit

Greeted immediately, open 5-8:30 only, I arrived at 5:07 for a table for one and they squeezed me in to a small table by the bar, so definitely make reservations.

I went just to try the calamari, wasn’t hungry was just in town. It’s not good enough to go just for the calamari, but the restaurant and atmosphere seem enjoyable if you’re there for a nice dinner. There is a separate vegan menu.

The mushrooms for the calamari were thin and flat, they say they’re “ocean brined” maybe they press them flat to get the water out of them, but that leaves the potion size small and unsatisfying. I would season them in a different way and not press them.

Pros: Service prompt and pleasant, Actual vegan menu instead of substituting items, Salty fried mushrooms are delicious

Cons: Portion size - not enough mushrooms on the plate, The mushrooms themselves were thin and flat

I did not ask if the prawns (in the ceviche) are a mistake, or if they’re vegan prawns. at Brie & Barrel in Port Alberni

Extraordinary! - Edit

You can ask for a complete vegan menu that is not mixed wirh the regular one. Everything was very tasty and its not expensive for what you get. I highly recommend the Oyster mushroom calamari and the risotto.
