Okay… - Edit
The food was okay. Almost all deep fried which is never pleasant. Overpriced for what was received. Although tasty, I would go elsewhere being vegan.

2-for-1 vegan Mondays - Edit
As an abolitionist, I still find it a bit creepy to eat, drink, and be merry within the walls of an old prison. The large beer garden definitely was pumping on a Monday evening. Not sure if it was the vegan specials drawing a crowd or perhaps just because it was a public holiday eve.
Read moreWe both ordered parmas and shared a small side of buffalo cauliflower wings. The mains were huge - parmas were served on bigger than average dinner plates loaded with salad and fries. As part of their carbon-negative initiative, BrewDog aims to source as many local ingredients as possible. Their mock meats are from Melbourne-made Love BUDS. The schnitzel satisfied with its convincing texture and favour. Topped with 2 types of cheese but was missing the ham listed on the menu. Chips were heavily seasoned with chicken-flavoured salt. I never expect much from a side salad in a pub but these leafy greens were enhanced with fresh herbs, radishes, pickled onions, and tasty dressing.
The cauliflower with tangy chilli sauce had potential but the larger chunks were not so well cooked, leaving blobs of gloopy batter and crunchy cauli. The smaller pieces were cooked crisper on the outside and softer on the inside so were much more enjoyable. We really didn't need to order a side anyway, since we couldn't finish our mains which were good value at 2-for-1 but not sure I'd pay full price. I'd come again on a Monday to try more of their plant based menu which also features salads, pizzas, burgers, and tacos.
