Deep Dish Delight - Edit
I’ll be honest, I’ve only ever ordered the Bianca—but I order it a LOT! The crispy cheesy crust, the gooey cheese that drips off the pizza as you eat it, and the tasty crumbles… mmm! It is worth every penny. It took me a long time to find out that Boxcar was a vegan pizza place and now that I know I am making up for all the time I missed out!

How is this vegan?!? - Edit
We ordered the bianca pizza and BBQ wings from boxcar and HOLY COW. All the memories of childhood pizza places rushing back, made me want to play arcade games with greasy fingers! And the wings?? Just wow. My partner for the first time in 5 years had to ask if they were vegan. Texture taste 100%. Absolutely recommend.

Awesome pies! - Edit
Found out their pizza cart Baby Blue had closed up shop so we came here instead. The pizza here is a completely different style. It's rectangular in shape. The crust is thick but soft and light and has a good crunch on the bottom and sides. It was hard to pick just one out of so many options but we settled on the animal lover, which we really enjoyed. We also wanted to try the pizza week special so we got a couple slices of that as well.
Read moreI had to knock a star off though because of the interaction with the employee who took our order. He seemed impatient and couldn't be bothered to tell us about the Portland pizza week special that they were doing. He just said it was too complicated to get into and steered us toward the regular menu. Turned out it couldn't be simpler. All he would've had to say was "we have a pizza week special that comes by the slice at $3 each and everything else is sold by the whole pie." How hard was that?
Pros: great food, lots of options
Cons: staff a little cold

Amazing pizza - Edit
Really cool little vegan pizza joint with a shared food court with outdoor seating shared with a few other businesses. We had the steaky breaky heart pizza and it’s one of the best pizza i ever had. With a side of Sriracha, Lime and Cilantro wings. The portion was just nice for 2. Great experience with a pint of craft beer from Paydirt next door.

Greasy but tasty - Edit
We’ve only tried one of their pizzas so far but we found out about them after our other favorite vegan pizza in town, Baby Blue, closed their cart.
Read moreIt was a really tasty. The thick, soft crust/dough and the toppings were good. It is a bit greasy though, so definitely not the lightest pizza especially with the doughy crust. But who’s eating pizza for a light meal anyway?
Oh and their kale Caesar is really tasty!
Pros: All vegan, Lots of options
Cons: Greasy, Slightly expensive

Insanely good - Edit
Okay. This place is insane. The Jimmy Pesto (special) changed my life. I seriously didn’t know pizza could be that good. We also got the Bianca, BBQ & Buffalo wings, Caesar kale, and Caprese salad. Everything was amazing. The wings are the gooood vegan wings with the sugar cane stems (IYKYK). The small Caesar kale was huge and a great way to cut through the richness of the other foods. The mozz balls in the caprese were so much like real ones I had to ask my partner to double check that this place was fully vegan.

Great variety of pizza, housemade cheese. Almost everything we've had there was great. There's been one or two not so much, but not so bad or put us off. We go there way too much bc it's so dang good. #Veganuary

Great pizza, underwhelming salad. - Edit
The pizza is a HUGE standout. So good. But the wings and ceased were not particularly good. But seriously the pizza! Eat it. Never had Detroit style before and the BBQ Jalapeño cheeseburger was sooooooo good. The steak cilantro pizza was good but even better the next day.

My boys loved this pizza - Edit
This was not my favorite vegan pizza because I don’t like fake cheese. I generally just leave it off pizza and load it up with veggies. This doesn’t work so well with their deep dish pizza. It gets overcooked. It was still really good though. The gf crust was delicious though and my boys- including my husband really enjoyed their gf pizza.

Had to do a double take - Edit
We're visiting town and ordered some food at the hotel. Damn I had to do a double take as in "is it REALLY vegan?" I was hella suspicious (however vegan for over a decade). The pizza was great, the garlic bread amazing. My husband loves his garlic bread and almost finished this one by himself. Decadent. Filling. A bit too much for me but for the taste? Go for it!

Great with a caveat - Edit
So I’m torn on this one & largely due to my personal preferences. I believe nut based cheese is better tasting & healthier than oil based cheese which I really don’t like at all.
Read moreHaving said that this place does have some of the best of that oil version of vegan cheese I’ve ever had. For those with nut allergies this place is probably gonna be the best pizza you can get.
The crust & sauce is perfection & an overall a very decent experience.
But at the end of the day I’d personally go to a place with a cashew or almond based pizza over returning here.

Unique and Delicious - Edit
Love that Boxcar's vegan alternative to the typical "meat lover" pizza is called the "animal lover." Great vibe in the space, positive energy from staff. Pizza dough is very remarkable Chicago style, light and airy yet satisfying; sauce is well herbed and generous. The cheese flavor could be improved, but that is a small criticism compared to the whole taste experience. You will definitely come away impressed--we have added this pizza to our rotation of regulars. The chicken wings are incredible--almost too realistic. Best vegan ranch dipping sauce I've ever had! These folks have mad culinary skills!
Read morePros: Original - nothing like this in town, Well crafted - from dough to sauce to wings , Friendly, upbeat staff

Excellent vegan pizza! - Edit
We loved this 100% vegan pizzeria! It is apparently "Detroit-style" but reminded us of Sicilian pizza. We loved the cheesy garlic bread and the 2 pizzas we tried. They do the vegan cheese well, especially loved their vegan ricotta! Excellent quality Za and worth a trip here!

Great! - Edit
After having their pizza from their sister store Baby Blue, which was pretty bad, I didn’t go in expecting much, but I am very happy I was wrong. Much better! Excellent crust and perfect crunch. Everything was ooey-gooey goodness. Great flavor, would definitely return. My only downsides to my visit and experience was the not so friendly employee who seemed bothered we were ordering and seemed irritated, plus the abysmal parking situation. It’s also pricey for a personal size pizza.

Run don't walk. - Edit
I've been a fan since they opened Baby Blue, which has thin crust sourdough pizza. Now with their robust thick pies, it's heaven. My dad's favorite pizza in town (and he's not vegan). I love the Classic, the Bianca, and the Green Supreme. My gf friends really like that crust as well. Always get a nice greeting when I walk in the door. This place is awesome.
