Weekend Options Limited - Edit
I visited on a Saturday and there is only one vegan option on the menu: an eggplant dish under Small Plates. Unfortunately, they said the pita bread that comes with the hummus plate isn’t vegan (why?!), but I did get the hummus plate as well with extra veggies. It was fine, but the eggplant dish was very good. The most frustrating part was that our server didn’t seem to know [censored] about the menu in terms of what could be made vegan. When I asked, she started telling me about gluten free options and then pointed out the one clearly-labeled vegan item, as if I couldn’t read.
Read morePros: Cute atmosphere, Wide tea selection, One good vegan item
Cons: Servers seem unaware of how to accommodate, Very limited vegan options, Pita bread not vegan

Unique tea house - Edit
The Dushanbe Teahouse has a truly beautiful atmosphere – the architecture and decor are stunning, and the staff is genuinely warm and welcoming. The tea selection is creative and thoughtfully presented. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting. Several dishes tasted like they’d been microwaved, with a processed feel and not much originality in flavor. The eggplant dish, in particular, was far too salty. I’d come back for the tea and ambiance, but I wish the kitchen matched the care put into the rest of the experience

April 2025 - Edit
I’m really disappointed after seeing all the positive comments. I went during brunch and was told the chai pancakes could be made vegan so I ordered that. The waiter came back and said unfortunately it wasn’t actually vegan but they had three vegan options, a spicy dish, a second one I don’t remember, and then she “forgot” the third. It was super unhelpful and I ended up just drinking tea while everyone else was eating.

I love tea - Edit
I love tea houses and trying delicious teas from around the world.
Read moreThis place is gorgeous when you walk up. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor is almost prettier than outside.
My friend and I sat outside and the weather was really nice. They provide shade from the sun and there is a creek running past that has really nice ambient noise.
There are 2 drink menus - one is tea specific and the other has the specials.
There is a nice food menu that has clearly labeled vegan options except in the entree section. Some stuff can be made vegan but I had to ask about it. I wish it had something saying "can be vegan on request" or something like that.
I got the Sichuan cucumber appetizer, the spicy Indonesian peanut Noodles, the Puerh tea, violet dreams mocktail, and the rice pudding (all vegan). I tried a little bit of everything because I don't live here and may not have another opportunity to visit.
The Sichuan Cucumber was very salty and had a little spice to it. I thought it was pleasant.
The spicy Indonesian peanut Noodles were not as spicy as I thought they would be. The peanut sauce was flavorful and delicious. The tofu was cooked just perfectly where it didn't have too much of a sponge texture.
The Puerh tea was described as being the fine wine of tea. It was very earthy and it definitely had a fermented smell. The taste was different from the smell and I enjoy an earth flavor from teas. It feels like I am drinking something from the earth.
The violet dreams mocktail was really delicious too. I love ginger beer and it was like having a flavored ginger beer.
The rice pudding was super filling and just sweet enough to feel like a dessert.
Overall I would recommend this place for vegans and I would order everything I had again. It was so good! I'm overly full.
Cons: Not clearly labeled vegan entrees

Great tea & light meal! - Edit
While traveling the country my husband and I came here to purchase some quality tea! I got the Lavender Mint and it is one of my favorite mint teas I’ve ever had. Will have to purchase more online when I run out!
Read moreAfter taking a look at the menu and very informative allergy/dietary chart on their website, we decided to dine in for a light meal.
I choose the Asian Shaved Vegetable Salad with tofu. It was so light, fresh & flavorful. Requested the tofu sauce on the side but it came out with it on. Wasn’t mad since at least the dressing came out on the side. I don’t like thick sauces or to douse my salads in dressing.
My husband had the Korean Pan-Fried Noodles with tofu. It wasn’t as hot in temperature as he hoped, (more of a mildly cold dish) but he still enjoyed it.
We both loved the amount of cilantro on our dishes. 🌿 💚 #Veganuary

Nice luch by the creek - Edit
Had a leisurely lunch outside by the creek. The server was very helpful in working through food options for vegan and gf. My husband I shared the Asian salad and the pan freid noodles dishes. Both were very plentiful and taste. The tea menu is the draw here for true tea drinkers.

Bad vegan options - Edit
The vegan options were super disappointing, for a $30+ meal the vegan options at afternoon tea were ridiculous: unseasoned rice paper filled with lettuce, a single chocolate strawberry, bland rice paper, the only redeeming part of the meal was a scone. Was very disappointing for a place that seemed to be very vegan friendly, eating barely edible food while watching friends who paid the same price eat an extravagant meal.

An entire experience just with the ambience! The extensive tea menu, including the best chai everrrrrrr would have been enough to make me happy- but we also had the most helpful, lovely server recommending dishes from a great assortment of vegan options. The food was incredible! Well remember this experience forever.

Beautiful But Vegans Beware - Edit
The ambiance cannot be beat. It is so beautiful inside. Make reservations, if possible, because you can be in for a looooong wait if you come at a prime time. The chai (must ask for a milk substitution) and the few food selections that can be made vegan are great BUT, vegans beware. I thought I knew from reading previous reviews that some things could be made vegan and tried to order them. Luckily, our server checked with the kitchen because 1) the chickpea kufteh cannot be made vegan, even if you leave the egg off, 2) the Tajikistan plov cannot be made vegan even if you leave the meat off and there were no desserts that could be served vegan with the exception of the Forbidden Back Rice Pudding. Our server thought leaving off the whipped cream could make the St James cake vegan, but the kitchen reminded him that it had eggs or milk in it so can't be served as vegan. It was difficult to find and be sure of a vegan meal so take that into account. We were told the North African Crispy Cauliflower, the Kale Salad (without honey mustard vinaigrette), the Spicy Indonesian Peanut Noodles made vegan with Tofu and the Persian Khoresh Bademjan could be made vegan so that's what we had and all were good. I'm not 100% sure all were vegan but that's what we were told in August 2021. Would be fantastic if the kitchen could add one or two clearly marked vegan dishes to the menu, which would streamline things for the diners, chef and servers.

Beautiful Tea House - Edit
This beautiful building also has a fabulous history, which you can read about at the restaurant. The interior is lovely and the outside eating area also has a small creek to add to the atmosphere.
Read moreAs a tea house, I had high expectations regarding tea varieties. This restaurant did not disappoint. The menu is extensive and I have tried several varietals and even a few tea-based cocktails that have all been great.
The international menu offers a good variety for vegetarian options, with a few vegan options. I have enjoyed breakfast dishes, salads and noodle dishes. I think the menu items are all reasonably priced and a good value.
I highly recommend this restaurant since it truly is a unique dining experience in Boulder and an excellent place to bring visitors.

Fun Experience - Edit
This restaurant is an adventure. Beautiful, with a lovely story about its creation. Their naan is amazing and I loved my rice curry dish. After perusing the tea encyclopedia and getting advice from the server, my husband and I chose our teas. Neither one of us could taste any of the promised flavors and our wildly different types of tea looked and tasted exactly the same. The food and decor were worth it, though.
