In an off the beaten track area - don’t be put off. It is worth the trip. Comfy atmosphere and well constructed menu. We loved every dish we had.

Walked a long way across the city to get here due to limited veggie places being open on a Wednesday. It didn’t disappoint. Service was attentive, food came very quickly, but was freshly cooked and delicious. Large portions and I was a little greedy but was able to take the leftovers away.

Botanist Cafe, Melaka - Edit
I asked the waiter if they did vegan food. He said no. I then asked for a more senior staff member who explained the vegan options on the menu. I estimate less than half the menu options are vegan friendly. This place would easily be better if they menu marked items that are vegan by default and that can be customised vegan on request.

Botanist Cafe had great food with a great selection of choices! Fully vegetarian with vegan options. We had the nasi lemak and veggie curry rice as well as spring rolls. Absolutely delicious!

I experienced the Botanist Café as a very busy location with lots of vegan options and friendly staff. Unfortunately, I could only try a few things but everything was tasty and prices were fine for what you get.

Amazing food, some of the best veg meals in Malaysia I’ve had. Lots of different options from soups, rice and noodles. Completely veg and affordable. Staff are lovely and the place is spotless with a very calm atmosphere.

Read moreAll in all the food is good but it didnt quite meet our tastes: The curry had a special, almost fishy flavour (which we met several times in Malysia, so I guess it is a local sort of curry). The quality itself was good, just not our taste.
Nasi Briyani was great. Absolutely nothing to complain.
At our second visit the Spicy Fried Spaghetti as well as the Taiwanese Noodle lacked on flavour, esp. salt. The pasta was only spicy and oily, the noodles also missing the last kick. Dont get me wrong, the food was good - just not great.
Prices are bit higher than in the other restaurant next door and the flavours - I guess - more local.
But the partly lack of flavour and the higher prices dont allow me to rate 5 stars.
Still, worth a visit. Visit this one and Lutan 21 and decide for yourself what meets more your taste. 😉

Definitely one of the few restaurants in town serving top quality flavors. Tried the vegetarian rendang and was quite impressed with the portion and taste of it. Welcoming atmosphere, good service, and is very new inside.

The cafe is nice, cosy with great ambience. The staff are very friendly, efficient and attentive. Food is great, love it! I would request to exclude egg/dairy products. My fav is their nasi lemak and monkey head mushroom rendang rice.

Looking from the outside, with the huge sign and natural-themed decor, you'd expect an amazing place to eat. It is good but not something you'd particularly remember. The menu does not have much on it compared to similar restaurants and whilst everything is tasty enough, it just wasn't amazing. The place is definitely suited for spending a long time in, enjoying some of the tea collection. Bit too quiet and relaxed to feel comfortable when eating with your young family!
