Good, Not Great - Edit
The menu is severely limited from that which I experienced after I first visited here just after it had opened.
Read moreI had the Tasting Menu; whilst some dishes incredibly tasty, overall the experience was good but not great.
Brighton is not short of far better vegan offerings at the same price-point, or even significantly cheaper.
For the price you pay, there needs to be some change and improvement. If the menu stays the same, I shan't be hurrying back.

Absolute topper. Mooi interieur, vriendelijke bediening en het eten is meer dan voortreffelijk. Fijne smaken, puur en perfect afgekruid. Onze favoriet in Brighton!

Disappointing & significant decline from new menu. Avoid. - Edit
We have eaten here a few times over the past couple of years. It has always been a great place to take non-vegans especially for the Sunday roast. That is no longer the case. The menu has changed beyond recognition and it is not the better for it. The social nature of sharing plates has gone and been replaced with only 3 small and 2 main plates, none of which would have featured in the favourites of the previous menu. Portion size was small, sophistication was low, and so it was overpriced. We had to eat again later. We will not be returning, which is such a shame as it used to be so good.

Good but something missing - Edit
My second time at this higher end plant-based restaurant. I like it but I don’t love it like I do Bonsai Plant Kitchen and Terre a Terre. It leaves me a bit cold, maybe the sparse layout? The food is good and service attentive but something is definitely missing which means I might leave it another couple of years before going back.

Disappointing - Edit
I'd wanted to go to Botanique for years but sadly it didn't live up to expectations at all. On the positive side the staff were friendly and nothing terrible happened. It was all just very underwhelming.
Read moreMost of the food was ok, but nothing stood out as being memorable or any different to what you can get elsewhere. I wouldn't particularly recommend ordering any of the dishes that we had.
The food is very small. The "mains" aren't much bigger than the small plates.
The atmosphere was quite reserved and quiet. The chairs and tables were pretty uncomfortable. Service was slow and drinks took a long time to arrive.
It was very expensive. In responses to other reviews about the poor value they talk about the cost of living, which I do understand, but other restaurants are able to feed you in abundance for a lot less money.

Really warm atmosphere and the food is next level. Highly recommend the celeriac dish. You can tell how much time and effort has gone in to the menu, it’s balanced, inventive and everything is cooked to perfection.

Amazing - Edit
Really lovely restaurant, simple and stylish decor, friendly well trained staff and delicious food. We had difficulty choosing what to eat as it all sounded so good. We (2 of us) ended up sharing a couple of nibbles, and then 4 small plates followed by pudding. Standout dishes included the sweet potato with smokey harrissa lentils and the aubergine tartar. Full drinks menu, really good red wine and my husband sampled the wolfox IPA and some whisky. We had a great evening and plan to return so we can try more of the dishes.

Very good food, all vegan - Edit
All of the dishes are small and shareable, so if you go with someone willing you get to try a lot of things 😂 me and a friend ordered a couple of drinks and 5 plates (incl. a dessert) which left us feeling satisfied.

Good food - Edit
I like the fact that the dishes are original but personally I wish the quality of the ingredients was better e.g. the butternut squash was very dull and had no flavour, another example is the cabbage that goes with the oyster mushrooms could be more vinegary Maldon salt to lift this dish up, but we did enjoy it in general.

Eye for detail - Edit
Botanique definitely has an eye for detail and most dishes burst with flavour.

Went for the first time today for my friends 30th birthday lunch and was a very calm atmosphere and very creative food. Amazing flavours and presentation and love to see vegetables being used to their full potential. Look forward to going again in the future for their dinner menu.

Very tasty but pricey - Edit
Very tasty food with plenty of options and beautifully presented. However, a bit expensive for the quantity and quality. The restaurant was a little chilly and was so dimly lit that we had to use our phone torches to read the menu. Be prepared to pay around £45 to £80 for a bottle of wine.

I appreciate what Botanique does here: each dish focuses on one vegetable (or mushroom) and takes it to another level. I love everything that goes on in each dish: the sweet notes, the crunchy elements, the creaminess, the range of spices, the beautiful presentation. The dishes were quite rich in flavor however I found them quite heavy in oil, especially the eggplant main which was swimming in it. Other than that, it was wonderful. The pavlova was to die for too.
