The most beautiful experience and food! - Edit
Want to feel special whilst eating out? You’ve found your happy plate at bootleg Italian!
Read more100% vegan (and always has been) and so delicious. Loved everything here and can’t wait to go back.
Beautiful and well thought out, unique cocktails, gorgeously presented small plates and delectable pastas in one of the most beautiful venues I’ve ever seen. So grateful to have a vegan venue like bootleg in Sydney.

Not great! - Edit
Wanted to love this place but the food was sadly terrible. We tried the focaccia (not good), caco di pepe (so salty!), peppers (nothing special) and meatballs. The meatballs were the most edible but not worth visiting for.

Good not great - Edit
Had high expectations due to the positive reviews and house made claims on their website. Highlight of the night was the caccio e peppe! Would have liked a bit more sauce, but it was nice and peppery.
Read moreZucchini flowers: bland couldn’t taste the cheese
Fried olives: excellent, couldn’t taste the cheese
Pesto pasta: good , had a small teaspoon of ricotta so didn’t really get any
Foccacia: bland
Pasta was cooked on the very al dente side of al dente’
Overall everything was good but thought most dishes could have been finished with some olive oil and salt.
Cons: Expensive for what it is

We had a great time at bootleg. The food is really nice and the atmosphere was lovely.
Read moreWe had Bruschetta, arancini, Cacio e Pepe and a tiramisu. All were delicious.
We also had the vodka rigatoni which was nice but I was a bit disappointed in it based on the reviews I’d seen.
They were also playing some really great music which we enjoyed!

Bootleg is a standout in Sydney.

Everything is homemade, the pasta, the focaccia, the ricotta, honey, parmesan, garlic butter, .... . The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff very professional.

Bootleg Italian, Padding NSW - Edit
Ideal for a vegan dinner—totally dairy-free! Their fresh, homemade pasta is excellent. The garlic dough balls were surprisingly large and filling. I loved the vodka rigatoni, especially with a kick of chili for extra flavor. Carb heavy - Edit
Ok food. Very carb heavy and no vegan protein on the menu. Would have loved to have some seitan/tempeh/tofu/legumes to enjoy in at least one dish.

So Delicious 😍 - Edit
Absolutely loved it. Try the arancini and the vodka rigatoni!
Read moreIt's on the more expensive side here, but it was fully worth it for me. It's awesome to have another fully vegan Italian restaurant in Sydney.
Other than that, I can't fault it - fantastic food and service.

Good food, a bit pricey - Edit
The pasta was delicious but nothing extraordinary. We would have loved to try their (only) dessert which was Tiramisu, but unfortunately they ran out of Tiramisu. Atmosphere was very nice though.

Delicious food and great atmosphere - Edit
I loved the variety of options here, especially in the entree and sides. Meal was delicious, serves were a good size but not too big. I had the pesto which was really tasty and not too oily or creamy. Tiramisu dessert was really good but glad we shared one between us.

Pretty decor but the atmosphere felt a bit off. I enjoyed the olives and puttanesca pasta, it was nice but not extraordinary like some of the reviews I read on here.

Great vibe, yummy food - Edit
I went last night for a birthday dinner with the girls, I had this restaurant on my "want to go" list for ages but had to justify the expense! The vibe is awesome, we ate in the bar area at the high tables and the stools are super comfy.
Read moreThe food was great, but we did need to add salt to almost every dish, I didn't mind as you can always add salt (there was a shaker on the table) but can never remove it. I had the cacio e pepe, which I was looking forward to finally trying a vegan version. The pasta ai funghi is probably the highlight actually. The pasta al limone would have been my pick but it wasn't available last night.
The tiramisù was super light, so not a thick cream like traditional tiramisù but the sponge and taste was good.
Pros: Vibe, Food, Friendly staff
Cons: App ordering , Expensive , Parking

Great food & atmosphere - Edit
Every dish we had was great. We tried the arancini, focaccia, vodka pasta, and tiramisu. Lots of great cocktail options too. Plenty to feed vegans and non-veg alike, and the menu is so good that there were people at the table behind us who didn't even realize it was a vegan restaurant until half way through their meals!

Mediocre - Edit
Finally managed to get here and try the food. I had quite high expectations due to all the positive press and came away a little underwhelmed. The food was nice enough but it wasn’t anything amazing. Don’t get me wrong, the food wasn’t bad it just wasn’t as amazing as I was hoping based on other reviews. Atmosphere was fine, again nothing special. The QR code menus and app to pay is quite annoying and you feel like your constantly antisocial staring at your phone and also it asks for a tip immediately before you have eaten or even interacted with staff.

Laid back family friendly Italian - Edit
A wonderful plant based Italian restaurant in Paddington.
Read moreWe secured a late walk-in booking for 6 people without a worry though it was busy still at 8 30 on a Wednesday night.
Entrée and focaccia was delisious.
The truffle arancini however was a little over powering for an appetizer.
The pasta's were great.oacked with flavour and crowd pleasing.
The alfredo was very rich though and made a few feel unwell.
But as the only vegan at the table I loved having the choice my favourite wat the spaghetti with chilli.
I hated the QR codes on the table and was glad at least that our order was taken by a server.
Sure it makes a menu more accessible (for those with phones) but you really don't want to replace the customer service industry.
Relaxed and kid friendly my 12 year old sister had the bar tender make her a "Bronte's Star Martini mocktail "
A virgin mocktail variation of the "[censored] star martini"
We would definitely go back.
Pros: 100% plant based vegan, Vegan italian
Cons: Pastas too rich, Truffle overpowering

Nothing great, OK food. - Edit
I tried not to expect much, since cheese and other traditional Italian ingredients might be hard to substitute, but I still felt a bit disappointed. One of my favorite dishes, the zucchini flowers, tasted absolutely bland. I really wanted to try the homemade salami, basically the only thing that drew my attention to the menu other than the zucchini flowers, but they were out. The pasta tasted OK, but really not worth making it homemade and making us pay that extra price, because it tasted store-bought all the same... The potatoes in garlic butter tasted the best, just to give you a sense of how much I (didn't) love this place. I'd give it 2 stars, but my partner liked it, so I decided to top an additional star. Happy to see a vegan place crowded though, so most like the food, or maybe the drinks.
