Nice vegan restaurant!

They have a variety of vegan burgers to choose from, I would love to try them all, this was my first time there and my whole experience was great.
We ordered the whole package: lemonade, salad or fries or soup and the burgers. We were satisfied and the service was great, they just talk a little too low and it was hard to hear them sometimes, they could talk a little louder hehe.
In the end we wanted to have some dessert, so we bought an ice-cream, they only had one flavor which was not of my taste but my boyfriend did buy one. It was a little expensive, but it was tasty.

Love it

Boon has been a favourite of mine for years and my non-vegan family member love it too. Introduced it to my vegan boyfriend recently and he loved it!

Pros: All vegan

Good aim but needs some improvement

I had the Hawaii poutine and loved the toppings, sauce and a couple of the fries. A good half of the fries was not cooked properly tho, they were raw or just like "normal" cooked potatoes but not like fries.

Food quality far from consistent, cold fries

They have a vast menu and their plates are pleasing to the eye...however, I have visited 8-10 times over the last year or two and have never had a consistent experience. Cold fries, dried out and almost unpalatable burger patties every other visit. More than occasionally, the burger will just fall apart after 1 bite and you're left with a fork and knife and too much slop and sauce to deal with.

I'd say 50% of my experiences at Boon Burger have been positive. I keep giving them a chance because I'd rather see my money go to a vegan restaurant than not! Step it up boon burger! We're rooting for you.

Pros: All vegan menu, Lots of variety

Cons: Inconsistent product quality

wow! I have dined at the original Boon in Winnipeg, Oakville and Burlington. I have not been to this location. If there is anything I can say about this burger chain is that it is consistently awesome.

Not good

Just because our vegan options are few in Barrie, doesn't mean we have to put up with sub standard food and poor customer service. That's what we experienced tonight. Just an overall feeling like our business didn't matter.

Pros: All vegan

Cons: below average customer service, food doesn't impress, mad at myself for giving them 4 tries

Delicious!

Both our burgers were big and delicious! Sweet chilli sauce on the table was tasty. They even have jackfruit in a can to buy to take home, and pumpkin pie flavoured soft serve!

Pros: All vegan, eat everything.

Cons: Lighting is a little dark.

Always satisfying

This time we tried a double-chocolate-chip cookie, which was enormous and fantastic. Burger-wise, we had the Bacun Cheezeburger (decadent and delicious) and the Phish Taco burger (hold the cilantro, because ick>), which were very satisfying. The baked fries were crispy and hit the spot. We always make a point to stop at Boon Burger when heading to/from cottage country!

Pros: Reliably great, Nice bathrooms, Good vibe

Great food

Their on tap kombucha was delicious! I would highly recommend it, even if it's quite expensive.
The poutine was good, and I didn't know the fries were baked which was a pleasant surprise and I couldn't tell.
A word of warning, you will most likely need to pay for parking and it's $1.25 per hour so nothing too over the top. The location of the restaurant is along the main downtown area and it was lovely sitting on the outside patio.

Tasty!!

My husband and I stopped there on our way to and from Brampton. We had burgers and fries the first time and hot dogs on the way back. Delicious! When I are meat, I used to love hotdogs, as awful as they are. But now, I was able to get delicious vegan hotdogs. The staff was attentive and very knowledgeable. Thank you! Will be back!

Pros: excellent food and service

Cons: the seats are very uncomfortable

Sloppy burgers, delicious salads and uber friendly staff

We've been going here since it first came to Barrie. I'll be 100% honest that my first take out experience wasn't great but we ate in next time and it was delicious.

I recommend eating there if you can.

The burgers are a great combination of flavour and texture. I love the fact that you can get a burger in a wrap which makes it way easier to eat.

The caesar salad is spectacular and the chili fries are fabulous.

This portions are HUGE so I suggest you don't go overboard when ordering because you'll be overfaced. We share a burger / fries and it's way more than enough.

Pros: Great food overall, Huge portions / easily shareable, Friendly staff

Always a treat to visit here

I often make a point to stop here when I'm able to. I love the food, and the fact that it's the only vegan restaurant nearby. It is a bit on the pricey side.. my burger (the Greek Almighty" with a pop with tax came to $16.) But this is a huge burger and an authentic old fashioned root beer. The ingredients are quality and most importantly, cruelty free. I love how they keep pan-flits and brochures about nearby animal sanctuaries and have pictures of cows on the walls. It tells me that the company is not just in it for the plant based, but also the animal rights aspect which is unique to all the restaurants in Barrie.

Pros: Good portions, decent value for money spent , Lots of options- even kids meals, Right downtown Barrie

Best Vegan Burger Ever

So my daughter surprised me with a lunch date to The Boon Burger Cafe yesterday (3-22-17) in Barrie, Ontario. What a delightful surprise. The workers were friendly and helpful, the restaurant was clean and bright. But most of all, the burgers were absolutely delicious.

With almost 30 different burgers to choose from, I decided on the Backyard BBQ , which was totally delicious. They also offer salads and wraps, which I may try on my next visit. The nice thing about the burgers is that they are not fried. They are baked and then placed on a grill, which gave them a really nice flavor. The buns are baked on the premises, and were really tasty. I will definitely return to Boon Burger Cafe on my next visit to Barrie.

Pros: Taste was delicious, Lots of yummy extras on the burger, The sauces were also very tasty

Great food!

I absolutely loved my burger and Caesar salad. I got the ''backyard barbecue '', which was basically a remake of a very classic, loaded up summer burger. The patty is insanely realistic, as is the cheese. This was my first time trying vegan Caesar salad and I LOVED it! It didn't taste like dairy Caesar salad, but who cares, it was great! Everything tastes super fresh and homemade. The best part is probably the buns, which are wonderfully soft with a slight crisp. Only 4 stars because the service was pretty bad - I think it may have been my server's first day, so I had to wait at the cash for quite some time while he figured out how to ring it in and he forgot about my milkshake until I reminded him after the meal. He didn't apologize, but no biggie - I'm sure that service is usually better. The milkshake wasn't to die for, and it seemed a small serving size for the price. I'm personally more a fan of soy and cashew based ice creams than coconut as this one was, but still worth ordering!

Pros: wonderful, fresh food, cute, roomy interior , very Eco-conscious

Cons: Milkshakes aren't as good as the food, Poorly lit interior , Bad service during my visit

Great patty, but...

We stopped in Barrie just to have lunch here because of the rave reviews. I'm sorry to say we just weren't crazy about it. The patty was very good, but there was just way too much sauce. My bun was not toasted and so it went soggy and I had to eat most of it with a knife and fork. I must say, though, I loved my vegan milkshake!

Nice plant-based meal

It was my first time eating here. The food was great. It filled me up; I was not hungry any more.

The only thing that I did not care for was having to take a table marker to our table which was a plastic animal. Ours was a goat. Since we had to order at the counter, I guess it was their way of knowing what orders were for the different tables. The kids would enjoy this but I thought it was not hygienic.

Very good selections. I ordered a buddha burger and a dish of oven-baked sesame-potato fries to share with my non-vegan friend. The fries could have been a little more crisp but they were not greasy and are very tasty. My friend liked her boon burger too.

great burgers

I was recently in Barrie on a business trip and ended up at Boon Burger Cafe for lunch.
I had a chickpea patty with sweet potato and pickles , lettuce , onions and BBQ sauce , on a gluten free bun.
It was delicious.
The rest of my party also had various veg burgers and we all loved our meals .
We shared a Caesar salad which was huge - enough for 3-4 people . Having never had a " real " Caesar salad before - I really loved it. The bacon bits are made of soy and as 1 of our party has a soy intolerance we left it off.
We would all return to Boon Burger Cafe if we are in Barrie again

Pros: very delicious, friendly staff , knowledgeable staff

Easily a favourite

I found out about Boon just a couple months ago but, despite living in another city and not one to eat out often, I have been back half a dozen times. I have repeatedly taken friends and family (none of whom are vegan) with me and they have all loved it too.

The food has always been delicious and reasonably priced. On my first visit I actually kept my menu and have been writing down the rating for each dish as I try it. So far every single dish has been either a 4 or 5 except the poutine which earned a 3. I've only had the poutine once though, so I'll have to have it again for a fair rating.

The staff has always been very friendly and answers any questions that we had. I have even had them recommend some other awesome business in the area to check out and learned about a vegan shop in my home town because of them.

I have tried to think of an actual negative to post, but honestly the mediocre poutine I had is the worst thing I've experienced about the place and that could have just been a one-off considering the quality of everything else.

Pros: Delicious food, Friendly staff, Reasonable prices

Cons: Not in my hometown

Awesome!

I've been to Boon Burger twice and will be coming again whenever in town. The food is amazing, the staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. I live in Sudbury but from now on Boon Burger is the place I'll be stopping in each time I travel down south. Awesome place.
