Convenient and refreshing - Edit
Contrary to previous reviewer, I was able to find Bonbori easily at the end of the 2nd building heading away from the Otemon gate of Himeji Castle as one goes down Otemae dori towards the station. It had chairs and tables outside and inside as well as a menu board outside. It doubles as a souvenir store.
Read moreThe monk meal, this day, was a selection of pickles, a soup, a main dish of soy protein on rice surrounded by a salad, and a couple of small desserts (see photo). Was satisfying and tasted good.
And the air-conditioniing provided welcome relief from the growing heat and humidity.

Stopped in after Himeji Castle and everyone enjoyed their meal. Looks like there is the monk meal and some additional light lunch options that are vegan.
