good food - Edit
3 years since the last review for this place, time to change that!
Read moreLet's start by saying that the previous comments about staff not asking for drink refills enough is not true anymore. They definitely ask you multiple times if you want another drink. Also, it was not a long wait for food.
Now on to the food.
Menu has a vegetarian/vegan section for the main course and clearly labeled vegan items throughout the rest of the menu. State clearly that you want vegan when ordering so you don't get vegetarian. The staff knows what vegan means.
Drinks: I had (bottled) kombucha. The menu said it was sugar-free but the bottle label clearly stated it contained sugar and sweeteners. Later on I had tap water.
Starters: We had samosas and veg momo's. Both were very good but the herbal salt sprinkled over the samosas was unwelcome and not needed. The lettuce was a bit warm and not crisp.
Main: I had aloo gobi. It contained more different veg than just potato and cauliflower, like paprika and spring onions. Spice level was mild, the lowest, but be aware that this is still quite spicy if you're not used to spice! Included basmati rice. I don't know why they put some fried onions on top as you would never see that in Nepal or India but I guess it is just one of those things that they do to make dishes their own.
And that is something that I always find difficult in Nepali/Indian restaurants: that the food is not the same as you'd get in Nepal or India. And although the food is good, it never has the flavour that I know (and miss) from Nepal. Even the rice is not as flavorful.
On the bright side, it is always incredibly nice to speak to the Nepali people in the restaurants and feel that connection to Nepal again. Boeddha Eye was no exception on this.
I do compliment this place on their interior and their creativity in making meals their own. And their food is good, no questions about that.
I would visit again.
Pros: friendly and knowledgeable staff, nice interior, good vibe
